EVGA GTX 1080 SC vs Zotac GTX 1070 TI AMP! Extreme

Even the Founders 1080 will boost to 2ghz easily enough. It's when you step up to the Ti that you need a big cooler.

The EVGA FTW cards are ok. I don't have experience with any other 1080 class cooler but the FTW is just ok in my opinion. Not the quietest or coolest but it could be worse

I've owned them and they're pretty solid compared to others I've owned. They're not top of the line but they're easily above average. I was able to get the fans to run near silent with a little tweaking in Precision X. Even with a mild overclock the cooler was beefy enough to keep temps down at very low fan speeds. But yeah, out of the box they're not the quietest.

Step-up process has to be started within 90days of purchase :)

Well that is dumb... Why or even how, would you even be able to swap out for a next gen card, if it's not even out yet and you have to start the process within 90 days of purchase?

Yeah I've had worse but I've had better too. So my experience is in line with yours too. I expected more however from an expensive card and a brand like EVGA.

Don't take this offensively but sometimes I feel like you just don't think or read up on whatever the topic is. It's not difficult to figure out the purpose of the step up program with what you quoted because you can Google what it is.
Basically you buy the card then enter the step up program. What it does is give you an option of upgrading/side grading to a new generation card without having to spend the full amount. You pay the difference between what you paid and what the new card is. You give back the card you bought and the difference in cost and they send the new card to you. Basically how it works.

Sorry about the delay, I was on the road because of Xmas.. OH MERRY XMAS EVERYONE!

You might be able to manually overclock pre OC'd AIB Pascal cards a little further but for the sake of 1 - 2 fps it is seriously not worth it.

Since I am very new to OC, I didn't know much untill I read it further. It is exactly what you said and in my opinion it's not worth it. I guess it's ok to do a little tweaking with the EVGA Precision Software but not go insane over 1 or 2 fps like you said. I just read some reviews that a 1070ti could surpass a 1080 with OC but I don't think it's 100% accurate and I would need to have lots of knowledge, cooling systems and stuff.

It's just not worth the little money difference. I will just go with the 1080 SC by EVGA and don't worry about a thing.

Too bad I don't think that program is valid on my country. I am little worried in expending about U$ 700-750 (that's what a 1080/1070ti costs here with all of our great taxes) and be crushed next year with the new VGAs.

The fact is that I am without a VGA atm and its a little bit annoying. I am very anxious and It's really hard to sit and wait like 6 months. Getting a used VGA is now risky with all of those e-coins mining. I can buy a really ed up VGA that wont last until the new gen. of VGAs.

Hello guys,

I was waiting for some New Years Deals and I found out this FTW2 iCX model here: LINK.

It is about the same price of the SC ACX 3.0 model and I thought of buying it since I read this new iCX cooler is better and this model recently got a BIOS upgrade that speeds up memory to 11 GHz.

The problem is that this 6684 version does not have an factory OC clock of 1721/1860 - it does have a default clock of 1607/1733.

How much this affect the product quality? Does the SC ACX 3.0 version beat it because of its 1708/1847 clock?

EVGA ACX 3.O LINK

Thanks in advance!
