EVGA 780 Classified SLI vs. 780 Ti Classified

I don't like to do that. Simply because when hardware arrive testing is most important, I'm not calm until that finish, half day stability tests on fabric clock, loop of different tests, comparing results with official GTX780Ti result, temps,... and....
I will post nice pictures.
I hope EVGA will increase fan speed becasue no matter what people talk many of them use such cards for benchmarks and this card have lot noise space for at least 500RPM more speed.

Just remember to not expect anything amazing over a standard 780 Ti at best you will gain a few fps and nothing more.

Watercool it. Problem solved! :-)

That would be logical, The OP does not do logic which is why he is getting that card lol

What that price from OCN is about 870e...
Aaaa I now calculate I didn't know I thought that's at least 950-970e...
I say too... I expect 839-859e... That can be real than... In one moment I even thought that's more than 1000e because I didn't know exchange rates.
Maybe 850-860 is real.

That's a stupid amount of money to be paying for a graphics card.

If you want exclusive hardware you should have got one of those Asus 7970x2 (it was pre 7990) AIO cooled GPUS.
it'd be more powerful as well.

If you want an exclusive card then get it. Seriously dude it's just a fancy 780ti Classified that's all. You will pay a lot for it but as long as having a graphics card which will only be "relevant" for a year is okay with you then do it. Just know in 12-18-24 months time there will be a new graphics card out that costs stupid amounts of money which will be better and just as "exclusive".

Let us know if you get it.

/thread ?

My god when I say exclusive I thought highest clock, best PCB, strongest power section, best video memory, maybe even soldering PCB that is EXCLUSIVE only I couldn't imagine that... I didn't though on ROG badge and 2.5 years old chip available in every corner of Serbia, Kazakhstan and Sierra Leone...
I though on something unusual...nice, stylish, but under cooler whole PCB covered with excellent hardware, LED diodes, dual BIOS, connectors for overclocking, I don't want one H100 on two HD7970 and ASUS ROG badge for 1300e...They could give at least two all in one system... niggards...That is not even H100, that's H80...
Why to buy that if I decide to go on unlocked chip over best possible Dual GPU option with GTX780 Classified SLI... Example all over me are people who bought card and cooler for 1/3 price of card or example reference with waterblock, no warranty any more, same reference PCB, 150e more... or 110 for Accelero, or for Hybrid how much 140-150...such price for me is calculated even before they start with selling cards... You immediately say Yes OK, that's reference model I will not buy that. Only every customer decide what he wish, someone want all in one system on card more than custom card...Other is satisfied with fantastic cooler and want every cent in power section, VRM, memory, higher clock...

I really can't say nothing before card show up but I must say I saw one nice BIOS with higher clocks for normal Ti Classified. That is complete different story than. But I must saw first. That card is fantastic and only about 50-60e more than reference, for such price I can't buy aftermarket cooler to cool proper reference junk... Such price is completely acceptable from now every year over reference models.
I will search and search owners and compare, no other way... I decide before few weeks in head but first I must see price, I didn't expect so high as KPC. Normal is completely OK.

The problem is though, this card you're so in love with won't be any more powerful than other manufacturers super high end cards unless you use LN2. Galaxy's(KFA for us english lot) 780 Ti HOF will be as well performing on air as the K|NGP|N.

Dude I think we've lost this one, He has industrial sized blinkers on, Not even kingpin himself, Shouting at him could change his mind ^_^

I've really enjoyed this argument having just bought two GTX780 Classifieds, maybe we can have a bench off when you get your K|NGP|N 780Ti :)

One thing in favour of the Kingpin is that it does come with a backplate. I've had to have two imported from Australia as that's the only place I can find them in stock for the Classified and that's been very costly. More or less £100 for two backplates and one of the pro SLI-bridges before import tax. Yeah I overpaid but hopefully i'll get them ok reasonably soon and they'll make a nice finishing detail.

One bad thing to say actually one of my Classy's had a faulty fan bearing and I had to return it. Apparently they are also quite prone to the cooling fins rattling due to how they are assembled. I wouldn't want to 'import' any of the EVGA cards with ACX coolers incase they have to go back it could really spoil the experience and cost you a lot. Just saying although they are top end cards they can have faults.

There are other things you should look at upgrading before wasting that amount of money on one of these Kingpin 780ti's.

If you don't believe me, when you get your Kingpin card see if you can beat the guys on this bench in the single GPU chart. None of them are using the 780ti Kingpin.

This topic still going? I make a lot of stupid purchases but getting the Kingpin card isn't going to be one of them. If you do get it, I think you will be disappointed. As others have said, the performance gain is negligible and for that price you're just wasting money. You could get other stuff with the difference.

At the end of the day it's your money and how you spend it is up to you. People here are just trying to help you from making a decision which you may regret in the future.

with rumors swirling that a GTX 780 Ti 6GB is coming I think it would be a bit silly to spend such a premium on a GTX 780 Ti Kingpin edition. The 6GB version will probably cost less than the 3GB Kingpin one does.

To be honest there isn't much point in using your 580 as a physx card if you are buying a 780TI. The 780TI is perfectly capable of handling the physx calculations.

Woohoo... 1812 with my 780ti puts me joint 12th ;)

Update: Make that 11th with 1821 :)

I got 1744 on my GTX 780 Ti and I'm 26th on the chart, Could probably catch up to you with some fiddling around but I'm happy with my clocks :)

There's no point in using PhysX in the first place.

What about the games with Physx support that are quite popular and generally fun to play -

The Batman Arkham Series
The upcoming Star Citizen game
The Metro Series
The Borderlands Series
Mirrors Edge *Number 2 is in the works*
Alice: Madness Returns *Another apparently coming out with more Physx goodness*
Hawken
Mafia II
Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag
The Witcher 3
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
Cryostasis
Everquest Next
Planetside 2
Project C.A.R.S
Warframe
COD: Ghosts

The Physx effects in the Batman games is beautiful and in the Borderlands games is just over the top awesome, Physx adds cool looking effects that on an Nvidia GPU's has hardly any performance hit so I wouldn't say it's pointless, It adds nice eye candy :)

Starcitizen also uses mantle :P. No clue how they're going to make both work. Tbh with the exception of witcher 2 and batman Physx isn't that noticeable (i'm not counting the Giants engined simulators).

Also, I can't see the difference in borderlands games and I played 2 side by side with a mate who was running it on a 680.

Here's a video of Physx on and off -

The actual Physx performance is quite good in borderlands across AMD and Nvidia cards though, But there is a very clear difference when you have it on and off.

Ah right, I don't remember disable/enabling it so that'd be why. Either we both had it disabled or enabled.
