Email Security ?

So a mate from work just sent me an email bomb, Or rather email with link inside of it, Opening up 50 pages from everything from "get your viagra today" to random youtube videos to some porn videos, Guess he thought it was funny, Not so much for me considering I'm currently working, At home but still.

Is there a way to check the contents of a link before opening it ? Seeing as it came from a friend I didn't think too much of it but posted a picture before and didn't close out all of the BS he sent me so could have shown up in pics.

Example before I closed most of the crap out -

Oh and this is my work rig hence the blocking software, Chrome just syncs all bookmarks between the 2.

Just to give an idea here is after I clicked on the link with some tabs closed, Funny at first but kinda annoying especially as I post a lot of screenshots etc... and hence my reason for wanting better email security, You can guess what the PH stands for -

Well there's one easy way to stop them from opening and that's disabling javascript. That's what those links basically are. A script that opens all those new tabs...

Ok done, I tested it again but now instead of opening up butt tons of tabs it opens up chrome with a blank page, Better than nothing, Thanks for the help :)
