EK Water blocks issues a statement delayed payments controversy

Nice to keep this one updated, I tried to post on quick news but my source link wasnt working it seems.

As an extensive EKWB user, it will be good to keep track of this. I would be happy to switch to a new manufacturer if their practise turn shady. I don't really care how they treat the big companies, its the small ones that need to be respected, and also their employees. Sounds like theres alot of illegal actions going on in what used to be the Texas outfit.

The big companies are affected by shadiness too, and their staff are impacted. Everyone is affected if corruption is accepted as 'I don't care'. If Amazon or Apple or Microsoft or Meta or any of these massive companies gets hit by fraud or shady practises from partner companies, the execs won't take a pay cut to compensate. They'll hit the customers and staff with it.

der8auer also made a video regarding this, stating he has ended his collaboration with EK.

He also made a massive statement regarding what Gamers Nexus and Steve said in their video, was just the tip of the iceberg.

Considering they basically collected all of that information in less than a week, it wouldn't be surprising if this turned out to be a massive scandal.

Words are cheap, We'll see what actually happens.

Indeed. Actions speak far louder than words.

I know someone who used to be incredible at modding who went out there to work for them. He hated it. I am not going to go into it any more than that but it was enough for me to avoid.

Bitspower every day baby. Their stuff is far nicer, less expensive and their customer service is exemplary.

On a larger scale yes. But as Steve said. 5 figure numbers for big companies can be written off as chump change and none of it passed on to the work force. For smaller companies though, a 5 figure sum (assuming dollars) is still a heavy hit. That was the point i was making.

In an ideal world, if you know your customer is suddenly struggling and you know that keeping them in business will extend your own revenues and growth, then you can forego some losses for the sake of the big picture. A startup group or small supplier of some niche component used in these blocks however, needs every drop of cash they can grab to sometimes stay afloat themselves.

This was going downhill 3 or 4 years ago. When their upper management split in two with half moving on citing "creative differences that couldnt be agreed on", then (if anyone remembers him) B-Negative an old modder and user on these forums who was employed by EK moved on due to issue, with their practises back then or something along those lines.

I know someone who used to be incredible at modding who went out there to work for them. He hated it.

Both B-Negative and forget his name but the big guy from Bit-tech, went to work for them.

Yup. B negs lasted mere weeks. He would help them design things, and then they would thank him and basically ignore all of his designs and improvements.

Dave Alcock now works for them, poor sod. He was known as Davido Labido. I thought he was still at AC but apparently not.

I'm watching the 'Influencers' trying to control narrative :) Stopped using EK stuff when I had a run in with dodgy radiators and an under performing Velocity block. Interesting that some of the narrative is geopolitical in nature - lol more to be revealed I suspect.

There was me happily slagging EK and what do I do last night? Only purchase one of their Radeon blocks for my Sapphire Pulse 7900 I got a few weeks ago. In my defence, they are the only compatible blocks available for these cards right now.

There is nothing wrong with their products. if anything, you are effectively helping the small businesses to get paid the money they are owed.

The issue is the practises of EKWB themselves. Its disgraceful. They also screwed themselves by making so many niche products that are effectively unsellable the moment next gen hardware comes around.

Their stock is chock a block full of EOL products. They need to sell that at way below outlet prices to shift it, but they still ask too much for them.
