EK Water Blocks today has released their full-cover water block for the ASUS Direct CU II series AMD R9 290X graphics card.

The EK-FC R9-290X DCII water block will directly cool the GPU core, RAM as well as its VRMs (voltage regulation modules) with water flowing directly over these areas, allowing the GPU to remain cool, quiet and stable under high voltages, overclocks and load.

The block will be available in 3 versions, Clear Acrylic (above), Black Acetal (below) and CSQ (no picture was available, so look here for other CSQ design Water Blocks).

A Full Cover Backplate will also be available for this Block, which will add to the structural rigidity of the Graphics card as well as provide some passive cooling to the VRMs on the back of the card.

These Water Blocks will only support the ASUS Direct-CU II model of AMD's R9 290 and 290X, so please do not try to use these Blocks on any other Graphics card.

This makes me wonder if any other model specific GPU water Blocks will be made available in the future. Current rumors suggest that there will be MSI R9 290X Lightning Water Block to be made available next month (Review here) and water blocks for ASUS' upcoming RoG R9 290X & GTX 780Ti Matrix cards (here). At present these remain unconfirmed.

These products are currently available at the EK Webshop and partnered retailers, and will be available for a RRP of € 104.94 and € 26.38 for the Water Block and Backplate respectively.

Good news about the upcoming blocks for the lightening. But as normal, if ASUS sneezed, EK would try to build a waterblock for it.
