Early RTX Shadow of the Tomb Raider disappointing on RTX 2080 Ti

The developers said in this article that the game was running in 1080 however they also said that it was an work in progress on an early and incomplete segment of an early and incomplete implementation of a new technology.

I take that as saying it shouldn't be used to judge the performance of a 2080 Ti.

It was probably not the best thing to make available as a showcase for the new technology and cards then really.

Yup. Though point is, the demo wasn't written for Turing. Just put a prototype card on primitive drivers and that was the perf increase. That's what you want from a new generation of tech, plug and play with great improvements.

unfortunately it has not much to say about games build with todays engines.

from a gamers point of view i am not that excited about RTX cards. not yet.

game engines today are pretty different from professional render engines.

from a designers point of view, working with vray and other render engines, i can´t wait to see how they use that RTX power.

Let's be honest, neither you or Avet know what exactly has happened under the hood because NVidia don't share hardware information freely.

However, these results are pretty impressive.

Has nothing to do with what I said. The point was it's just as new as the last launch. Just because it has one more big feature doesn't mean it's more new than last time. It's still an evolution in technology.
