e4300 / virtualization

Personally from reading this and finding out these features are missing from the e4300, I'd go for a e6300 instead if I was on a budget as they cost the same.

if i go e6x00 then it will be e6400 due to the higher multi.

the price difference is quite big, the e4300 costs around 3/4 of the e6300 depending on store.

Altho I guess we've not seen many e4300's overclocked yet so don't know how good they are at clocking.
something i will keep a close eye on, will probably order the parts around the middle of march.

At the places where I was looking the processors are only £10 or something difference. (I guess it's different in Sweden :( )

E4300 - £112.79

E6300 - £122.19

I went for a E6400 myself because of the higher multi and overclocking :)

not neccessarily, when looking at amd64 and 512kb cache vs 1024kb cache the difference is slim to nothing and in many tests such as superpi 512kb cache is superior, but not by much.

have not seen any tests on c2d so it might differ.

Loads of people have said that about the AMD`s cache - I noticed the difference big time, not from tests, but from using them.

U could get the `feeling` if u like when u used them.

depends on where i look.

did some searching and at the moment the e6300 can be found for 2-3 pizzas more(yes i like to count money differently) but the multiplier is rather low thats why i will get a e6400 if i buy from the e6x00 line.

400fsb = 2.8 ghz

btw how good is the stock heatsink ?

how difficult is it to change from the stock heatsink to lets say a scythe infinity ?

Stock heatsink will get you to 3-3.2GHz depending on voltage needed. It's really easy to get on, relitively annoying to get off.

The Scythe Infinity is an amazing HS/F. You might also want to look at the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. After you look passed the "Thermaltake brand," you'll see it's clearly an amazing HS/F.

the typhoon isnt sold in my local store but the infinity is amongst many others, will make a more thorough check when i have the money for one.

in which area will the temp be if i overclock to 2.8ghz ?

and what is considered warm and hot regarding conroe's ?

I have my E6400 @ 3.2Ghz using a Freezer7 Pro cooler :) the temps are in my sig. I think high temps on a core2duo's are around 55°C-60°C (mine seems to only hit 45°C).
