DVD Ripping

What could I use to rip dvd's to my hard drive, but I want them as mpeg 4 or avi files around 700~1000 Mb just to save time and space. Any good dvd's ill use dvd shrink and keep the 4.5 gb size. I have about 500 dvd's and I dont want to use 2 terabytes of storage to hold them

I use dvd decrypter to rip the vob/ifo files then compress with a variety of tools, depends on the quality you want and the power of your pc on how long it takes.
