Dual Monitors (Second screen)

Hey, does anyone know a way of fixing my resolution on my second screen?

I am currently using a Techwood 22" LCD Television screen and cant seem to get the resolution sorted out. It honestly looks horrible & text hurts eyes when reading.

Cheers,
Kieron

Do you know what the native res of the TV is? I assume that windows cannot find it otherwise it would be pretty easy to fix :P

Are you sure the resolution is the problem and its not over/underscan? or your text rendering being off or something?

Thank you for the response bud, the native res is 1080i, 1920 x 1080. But looks appauling with this resoultion setting. I am currently using 720p, 1280, 720 and it the text is much easier to read, but the actual windows is big. I just cant seem to figure it out.

Thanks :)

Right click the desktop -> Screen resolution, click the 2nd screen and set the resolution. Keep in mind that text will look much sharper on a monitor than on a TV.
Is this your TV by any chance? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Techwood-22884HDDVD-HD-DVD-Digital-Gloss-Black/dp/B004M3TO7G If so set the resolution to 1366 x 768 and see how it looks.

Cheers for responding bud, I've tried this already. 1366 x 768 just hurts my eyes when reading text from the screen. I am currently using 720, 1280 x 720 and it's much better but every window I open is like so big, it fills the screen.

Thanks :)

If you go into the TV settings you should find a few of these options: phase, dot clock and sharpness. Change the values and see if it's any better.

Thanks for responding, just gave this a try but doesn't seem to make the text any clearer :(!

On you pc try going in the display driver options and where you set the resolution there should be an advanced option where you can set Scan type to Progressive or Interlaced, it should be on Progressive, also set refresh rate to 60.
Last thing to try would be to play around with phase and sharpness on different resolutions, it may look better on some resolutions that on others.

Tried this, it just makes it look a whole lot worse. :(

Sadly then you just try to make it look as best as you can and use it like that if it's not too uncomfortable. As I mentioned TV's don't make the best monitors because they are not really built do display so much text.

For that you can use something like Utramon which lets you specify on what monitor to open specific applications and what windows size to give them.
Alternatively use something like KDE Mover-Sizer, which lets you quickly resize/move any window by using alt+left/right click.

I will try this and will edit this post and let you know how it goes!

EDIT - Did not work! :(
