Dual core dothan headed to the desktop

Finally Intel have realised what a mistake 'netburst' was and there is a dualcore dothan chip <with see3> headed to the desktop

[font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Finally, it looks like Intel has learned from its mistake and secretly prepping a surprise for the rest of the industry. According to the information we received, Intel is currently working on a desktop, dual-core Dothan microprocessor with SSE3 instruction set that Intel plans to launch sometime in the future. Whether the launch will take place this year or in 2006 is currently unknown.

i have just found out what my next computers' processor is :) the dual core mobile dothan is apparently targeting heat output of around 24ish watts and so if the desktop is using the same core overclockers will be very happy .

The single Dothan core beats a Fx-55's performance per clock cycle

Hmm. Looks like Intel has realized that they can't jsut sit on their haunches and let AMD pass them by.

Darn.

Smart move by Intel... The next round will more than likely be owned by Intel as I think it's going to shift back and forth from here on out when it comes to the newest technology. AMD now has a good foothold against Intel in the permanent power struggle with the release of the A64 lineup.

I'm glad Intel are hitting back with their sweeeet dothan CPU.

Might be orth looking into one of these as PC No. 2! :)
