Dragon Age 2 Demo

Played thru a bit till I finally crashed the game LOL! They've changed the combat, and in some ferocious ways. I mean, its just faster, more in your face, and a tad more challenging. Course, in the demo you can't use inventory so no matter what you loot you can't use.... that's irritating. But on the other side the animations and the new special attacks are very nice; effective, splashy, and a joy to use. Its playable on my machine w/out any problems so, its maximized for a large range of computers too. I'm going to replay from start again and pay a bit more attention to the AI, do some pondering on party member strengths and how to use them well before I say anything else about it being a big leap from the first game.

Saw this last night, I still haven't played the first one. I did see a few reports of the crash during the demo though so it's not just your system.

I think I caused the crash when leveling up the entire party. I'd complete one then bounce back to paused game, then do another... interface still new to me. But, we'll see in a bit. I don't harp on crashes, its quite fine when the game is attempting to make something I really like, and basically seeming to succeed.

Played thru it w/out a crash, that was quite nice. I have to admit I do like the new feel; its fast, with new attacks that are quite fun to use, and looks very nice. Each class has their own little bag of tricks with a nicely surprising amount of dmg that can be dealt by even the mages at just lvl 6. In fact, the mage is probably going to be an absolute necessity for your party. One thing I did notice was that the mage's AOE fire spells don't seem to deal the slightest bit of dmg to party members standing next to the center; so tossing a fireball into a melee doesn't gather you any penalty points on anyone's heal bar, which I can deal with easily. I found the cut-scenes a tad awkward for their placement, and some of the dialogue for at least the first couple levels a tad shallow, but maybe that changes later.

The sound, well, that's one of the more stellar parts of the game cos its just wonderfully done. Between that and the attack animations and just the combat itself I am quite pls'd.

All the usual tricks are there too; wave after wave of enemies, and the option of using spacebar/pause at anytime, so it fits your style of combat. All party actions are mappable in tactics again too. Oh well, enuff using up fonts.

i got it. its not running well. i'll fiddl later. thanks

Tx Jerome, but unfortunately I just can't do RTS's. I never feel like I'm really doing anything, just ordering people around a lot, which makes me fall asleep.

Played through demo of DA:2 1st time didn't crash 2nd, 3rd time crashed which was strange. On DirectX11 I can't max out the graphics, best I can get it is @ High with resolution of 1600x900 NO anti-aliasing

That's the drawback of the demo, you can't max the graphics.
