Does this seem ok?

Hi, just want to take some advice on the build I have for a client.
He has £1,800 to play with and wanted a high end gaming rig.

Here are the parts I have suggested and shown him.

GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 780Ti
CPU - Intel Core i7-4770K
Mobo - MSI Z87-GD65
Ram - Patriot Viper 3 16gb 2133mhz
PSU - Corsair RM 850
Cooling - Corsair H105
SSD - Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM
Case - Corsair Carbide 540
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate.

The total cost is £1,738 inc delivery.

This is a build way out my price bracket and just wanted some feedback on what changes you'd make.
Payment will be made on Thursday so have a little time to talk over some ideas with him.

...Just my opinion.. but I would go with an ASUS MB.. like maybe the Z87-pro (but thats because im an asus fan lol

My opinion, motherboards for this gen would be Gigabyte > MSI > ASUS.

Sandybridge, I'd of said ASUS.

CPU - If it is just for gaming, swap the 4770k for a 4670k.
GPU - I would recommend AMD R9 290 CROSSFIRE (MSI GAMING Twin Frozr) but if you are adamant on single GPU then stick with the Nvidia 780ti but maybe get something like the MSI GAMING Twin Frozr.
Motherboard - I'd say Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H.
RAM - For the price of Patriot Viper 3 16gb 2133mhz, I'd rather go with Corsair Vengeance Pro.
PSU - Can't fault it but I'd upgrade to the 1000w variant if you go with dual GPU, which you should ;)
Cooling - Wish I had the H105 over my H100i, so stick with it, although you can get the 'Coolermaster SEIDON 120V Water Cooler' for £12 if you buy the Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H motherboard from Scan, this is more than sufficient if you don't plan on OCing the CPU much.
SSD - Can't fault the Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO as I just got one myself for game storage, MAPLIN for £94.99 - bargain!
HDD - Not clued up on them too much but I know Seagate are probably the best option.

Case and OS isn't really worth talking about, too personal of choices.

Total cost (850w pus and 780ti) if you shop about £1550 (£1588 in Scan), £1472 (£1515 in Scan) if you take this MoBo and Coolermaster Cooler option.

With the 290 crossfire (MSI AMD R9 290 GAMING TWIN FROZR) and Corsair RM Series 1000W Full Modular Power Supply, the price would be £1690 if you shop around (£1741 in Scan) and £1619 (£1668 in Scan) if you took advantage of the MoBo and Coolermaster Cooler option.

Knock £20 off Scan totals if you get the SSD from Maplin.

MacLeod, you can get 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400MHz for £133, cheaper than that 'Corsair Dominator 16GB (2 x 8gb) DDR3-1866 Memory' - HERE

The H105 is obtainable here for only £1 more than the H100i - HERE

The Samsung 840 Pro Series 256gb really isn't worth the extra £50 over the Samsung EVO 250gb as shown - HERE

As for the 'EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply' at £132, the 'Corsair RM Series 850W Full Modular Power Supply' is enough for a single card and much cheaper at £114 but if the dude needs 1KW for 2 GPU's then I'd stretch to the 'Corsair RM Series 1000W Full Modular Power Supply' for £148 because the EVGA has a common problem with the fan being very noisy (clicky).

Very good advice on the GPU's, exactly what I'd recommend, after market cooler though of course. I recommended the 780ti though as if I was building for someone else I'd rather them have 1 GPU to save those future 'updated drivers causing issues' phone calls, haha ;)

Case is very user specific and is OS.

Just going off what PCPartpicker was giving me.

Performance maybe not but build quality it is. The Evo is great, I have one but the Pro is the better built drive and if youre going for a high end rig, might as well go all out.

The EVGA G2 is the absolutely superb Superflower Leadex platform. They may very well be the best power supplies on the market dollar for dollar and among the best period. The Corsair RM series is kinda ho-hum and not near as good a performer as the G2. A pair of 290's will draw ~650 watts from the wall while gaming and that means 500-550 system draw while gaming. Yeah a 1000 watt is overkill and a 850 could do the job just fine but the price difference isnt very much so why not allow for some extra headroom.

Very good advice on the GPU's, exactly what I'd recommend, after market cooler though of course. I recommended the 780ti though as if I was building for someone else I'd rather them have 1 GPU to save those future 'updated drivers causing issues' phone calls, haha ;)
Very good point. Dual cards can be a headache but man thats an awful lot of drool worthy GPU muscle.

Swap out the Seagate drive for a WD Caviar Blue or Black. Much more reliable brand imo.

Seeing as this is for a client I'm assuming he doesn't really want an upgradable rig but just the best out-of-the-box experience that he can afford? If he's not going to add a second 780 Ti you'd be fine with an RM650 unit.

The guys above have also given some good options for dual card set-ups within the budget though. Might be worth it to check around.

The Patriot Viper RAM looks amazing but where I live, it's stupidly expensive compared to other brands with the same specs. Don't know what it's like over there but it can't hurt to have another look around.

First Question what is about to clear before Planing a Rig: What Resolution he wanted to play??

THEN you could Pic the Parts.

Spend not so much Money on a Intel Based System if youre client only wants to play. Give AMD a tryal! Most same Performance and he would never notic a differnce between AMD and Intel.

AMD based System+Powerfull Grafiks (290 or 780 is enough to play Games! )
Cruzial SSD...cheap and Stable
Air Cooler for the CPU must also be fine (Noctuah or bequiet)
PSU? no bequiet? just for Option
OS: Win7 Pro 64 is a little bit cheaper....

Always keep in my mind...for Gaming still enough

If he wanted to play Skyrim...i dont know....More Vram is useful on the VGA ??

Thankyou all for your responses.
I have spent the best part of 5 hours trying to convince the client that the parts, as good as they are, are a little too extreme for him to be playing on 1920x1080 (24 inch led monitor) I have also been trying to convince him to purchase the 4670k over the 4770k. To be honest I think he is stuck in the motion of I want what is best but in budget.

Thankyou for all of your input, now to spend some more time with the client and try to persuade him that he could save some money which could be used to buy better peripherals.
I shall be uploading a build log when everything is sorted out, then I will look at it and cry knowing I won't be able to afford it lol
