Does my RIG need dielectric Grrease???

Just a quick question as it's not supplied as part of the CPU kit and therefore not used.

I have a MACHII cooling my winchester to -20idle, should I be using dielectric grease in the socket?

In the event of RMA or sale of the unit can I clean it out properly? If so, how?

Are there any other insulates I should be using in other areas?

Hi Slim,

Thanks for the quick response.

I have a few queries though:

Yes to which part? Please expand, feel free to be specific

How do I clean it all off in the event of wanting to sell or RMA?

Cheers

Mav

I believe that using dielectric grease is meant to protect the cpu contacts from corrosion. Push it into the socket, I put it everywhere! You can use the seal string to cover compnents and to seal the area.

When it comes to cleaning there are some chemicals about for cleaning off themal compounds (they tend to work on the grease), you can use an old brush to really clean them up.

i was also told to cover the back of the motherboard where the chips behind the processor are with die electric grease, so you might want to do that as well as covering the chips (just incase of any condensation back there)

I use PCB laquer on the back of my boards and Vaseline in the CPU socket, and I have yet to have any major problems :)
