Does anyone see competition to the R9 290x or 780ti(after mkt ver)in near future?

Started to read lately that new GPUs are coming out. I'm in the process of trying to pick parts for a new build and was wondering if you guys think I should wait for the new cards to come out (basically they will lower the cost of the current cards and if anything I can buy them) or go ahead and buy the cards I was going to get regardless. I was looking into either a r9 290x(ASUS R9290X-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290X 4GB or sapphire) or 780ti(ASUS DirectCU II GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5) so I'm worried since these cards have been out for a while and it would make sense for new GPUs to come out for x-mass. The only issue is will the "new" cards be faster then todays fast cards.

The Nvidia 880 is rumoured to be coming next month, there are nothing but rumours on the specs though. It could be faster than the 780 Ti but no one knows for sure, only time will tell.

No doubt AMD have something up their sleeves as well though, I don't see them not bringing new cards out as well.

i think the 880 has the potential to be faster, but probably wont be because they locked it down. then they will start unlocking things in it so it costs more untill they have it faster than the 780.
The computer market is the only market i know of where you will spend extra to lock things down so you can sell it for less, just so you can eventually sell the real thing for a lot more.

i dont know what amd will do really. they may just work on temps and power of their cards and end up with something like the 290x which wont burn your house down. and then work from their untill it will burn your house down (seems to be their style. id like to say latley, but amd have never really cared about heat issues lol)
