"DisplayPort Link Failure" Help, please.

Specs:
3770K (H100i, stock clocks)
Asus Maximus V Formula
4x4GB Corsair Vengeance
Intel 335 240GB
WD Black 1TB
Asus HD7970 Matrix Platinum (13.4 drivers, stock Asus clocks)
Asus VS248H-P (Run with DVI, have used DVI to HDMI, and HDMI fine before)
Asus VG248QE (Run off DisplayPort initially, no prblems until now, but will run off DVI to HDMI, and I suspect straight DVI fine but without 144Hz available)

A few hours after I installed my H100i, which to do so I had to pop the MOBO, and GPU out. Re installed all the hardware, everything was working fine, other than that I noticed upon boot up from sleep mode it was taking awhile to wake up (I suspect now that Windows was confused on which display to use). Then it gave me the "DisplayPort Linkage Failure" message. I ran the VG off DVI to HDMI, no prob BUT 144Hz was not available, making the monitor pointless. With DP it won't even show anything in the BIOS. Either when putting the H100i in I fucked all the DP outputs, and not the DVI outputs miraculously, or the cable I bought is shitty. Which sounds quite possible at this point.

This is the DP cable I have: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...sive_DISP_DISP_6ST_6_DisplayPort_Male_to.html

If you guys think it is the cable, recommend me a top quality 6ft+ one.

Did some trouble shooting, it does work via Dual like DVI off the GPU with only 60Hz :/ But the DP cable I have works off the iGPU, but with only 64Hz :/ Adding to my confusion. I googled around a bit and figured I might as well try to buy another cable and sse if that works, there is a list of DP Org tested cables that I didn't know about when I bought the shitty cable. And its not on the good list. So I bought one that is. Seems like DP is a hit or miss output.

UPDATE: Done a lot of reading, most of these issues are caused by active MiniDP to DP adapters. But I'm not using an adapter, so it is apparently caused by the monitor sending voltage back to the card via the #20pin on the DP cable. Hope the cable I ordered fixes it.
