Differnce Between ABIT IP35 PRO, ABIT IP35 & ABIT IP35-E

ABIT IP35 = £73

ABIT IP35-E = £59

Now apart from stuff like extra eSata port, Ethernet and crap that most of us never use are these three boards basically the same?

IE: They all use the same chipset, memory controller so should be able to overclock all the same - will all use the same bios and such.

Im looking for a replacement for my AW9D-Max but dont want to folk out a fortune for features i wont use.

I can't investigate at the moment, but you'll probably find that the lower-end ones don't use solid state caps, probably have 4-Phase PWM..etc

Will it affect the performance tho...prolly not

3ghz shouldn't be a problem on any board tbh. I'm just setting up a new server for OC3D and it's a Q6600 running at 3.4ghz on the 975x chipset. Our other server is P965 and holds another Q6600 at 3.4ghz too

From what i've read on the Abit forums the AW9D-Max just does not play well with the G0's it just about fine with the B3's.

Since i went from my E4300 (@ 3.3ghz from Day 1) to this Q6600 G0 i've had nothing but BSOD's all the time and I cant get it past 3ghz for love nor money.

So last night i took apart my media pc to get at my F-I90HD to see if it was a little more stable, not had chance to really try it yet but from my first few attempts the bio seems to be lacking in the old overclocking areas

I also have Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H that is in the Mrs PC but that would'nt play ball with the Q6600 either although its bios was also a bit restrictive.

The IP35-E & IP35 are the same board bar the ICH9 v ICH9R+firewire & slight chipset cooling differences.

They share a BIOS.

The Pro adds uGuru, 2nd x16 physical/x4 electrical PCI-E slot, 2nd LAN, onboard power & reset buttons & rear external clearCMOS switch, richer BIOS.

All caps are solid not just the most important ones.

Has it's own BIOS.

If you watch SCAN's Today Only page they have frequently been doing the IP35-E for £50, the IP35 for £59 & the Pro for £90.

Im right in thinking that the only real differnce between ICH9 and ICH9R is RAID Support?

Yeah, thats not a big deal to me really only have 3 SATA device's in use in this setup with 1 SATA awaiting a eSata Caddy which i would just use a SATA => eSata convertor for.

Im just pondering the thought that maybe this G0 just cant push past 3ghz :/

Even when they were fresh boards, I did notice on other oc forums, guyz buying the cheaper one to oc with.

Don`t know about the quality of the caps etc. Didn`t think they were different.

I've got an IP35-Pro, I reckon that the IP35-E would be able to hit the same O/C the same blahblahblah. As capacitors go, I've never had a board (other than this one) with all solid state capacitors and they've all been fine. Cooling is a little different on the cheaper boards but no heat pipe means you can change any of the heatsinks on the board you want.

How far have you been able to push that G0 on you IP35-Pro?

I would only really look at getting the IP35 if i knew i could really push this G0 to say 3.4ghz+

heh, think im just going to stump up more cash and grab a IP35 based board... not sure which one yet though!

I'm really tempted with the MSI P35 Neo2-FR but i have a silly passion for Abit!

I can get 3.6gig (9*400). Limitted by my ram, so can't go any further than about 420 on the fsb.

I've got 3.2 gig (8*400) 24/7 on stock volts. The quads performance is very excellent to say the least

ended up going for the MSI P35 Neo2-FR - will have it by tomorrow so lets hope it gives me a bit more room to push the G0

Hi! Well i currently have the Pro version of this board and i cant tell you enough how great it is! if you read some stats it is one of the best boards in term of overclocking ( of course as most p35 boards are! )

You wont be disappointed!
