Difference In Ram

Hello there,

I have a dual channel kit of Geil value RAM with heatspeaders oh 2 x1gb and I was wondering what is the difference of that and something like the OCZ Reaper memory? is it just the brand? or is it better for performance even though it is still 2GB

The speed of the ram will make the biggest difference (higher = better), then the timings of the ram will make a smaller difference (lower = better). What speed ram do you have?

PC-6400 800Mhz, the reaper memory is this same so is it faster or is it just the brand?

Your Geil Value timings are: 5-5-5-15

The OCZ Reaper timings are: 4-4-4-15

Therefore the Reapers will be slightly faster (lower = faster). If I were you I would not bother upgrading to Reapers unless you are thinking about overclocking them. They will most likely overclock better than the Geil Value ram.

I dont know which RAM, but always go for 4-4-4-12 if its PC-6400 your after.

I think the Corsair XMS2 range are reasonably priced, good timings and great price.

Thing is Bondi, you can get faster corsair (lower latencies) cheaper price, or more memory for a little bit more.
