OK, well PC.
In my haste to get my rig up and running I skipped a few checks on the loop - y'know, 'I know what I'm doing' attitude - WELL DON'T. EVER!
I took my pelt off my rig and cleaned off as much grease as I could, but as anyone with any dielectric grease experience will tell you, getting rid of it is nigh on impossible.
So I left a thin layer on my mobo - great a dust trap I thought.
Anyway, everything is ready to roll, got my water ready to top up the res as water is pumped through the loop.
I fire her up.
Beep.
Look at screen - f1 to set up, f2 to contine. Fine i think, lets get this water round the loop, don't want my new G0 to fry.
So I'm fiddling with the loop and - whoosh - the air gets thrown out.
Ace, I'm in business.
I look at my rig, cool. Everything...
WTF!
!
!
!
Water is spilling out of the CPU block. For a second I don't know what to do, a kind of frantic wave of inaction hits me.
Power.
Kill the power damn it!
Tissue.
Get some
ing tissue!
Wipe it up num nuts.
As I start absorbing the water and manually tightening the barb that has come lose, I see the water is 'sitting' on the mobo, kinda like water off a ducks back.
I quickly mop everything up and get more tissue.
There is no water left, just dielectic grease.
It seems the grease I left on formed a waterproof barrier.
Needless to say I haven't plucked up the courage to fire up my rig just yet, but I think it's ok.
I'm going to dry it again, go to the cinema and chance it when I get back.
Oh, I got a spanner on those barbs, they are now tight
Moral: Don't rush anything ever, never skip your final checks.
