I have an 2004 Pentium 4 pc. It's old and the psu is making fan noises at start-up so I thought it's time for a new build. I have been planing a build since I joined the forums and in the new build there's many thread about possible builds but it has come down to two depending on me and my daddy's agreement.

This is not only my first project log but also my first build. The build will be as stock and clean as possible.

(will be ordering next week)

D E M A N D E R
The reason behind the name is that when I started my "new build thread" I demanded help and learned a nice life lesson and this led to the name

specs (all need to be bought)

Cases: Cooler Master N300
Psu: Corsair VS450
Mobo:MSI B85-G43 Gaming
Cpu: Intel Core i5 4460 3.2Ghz
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Memory 8gb 1600Mhz
Gpu: MSI Radeon R9 270x gaming 2gb

or

Cases: Cooler Master N300
Psu: Corsair VS450
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3
Cpu: Intel Core i5 4460 3.2Ghz
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Memory 8gb 1600Mhz
Gpu: MSI Geforce GTX 750TI 2GB OC

(will receive and post quotas later when I receive it)
Possible updates will be a AIO water cooler.

The reason for my sudden change in plans (you would know I finalized if you followed my new build thread) is that I may get more money than initially.

*Any comment/help will be highly apprecaited

I'd say get the first list tbh, you'll get more power out of the 270x if you're only gaming. Whats the use case of the system going to be?

Mostly gaming but as I am going to study IT next year my course include programing, web designing and developing so a little of that.
I want the first list but the quota must be under R10 000 ($932) or R11 500 ($1072) max for me to convince my dad
(get the quotas tomorrow)
It is Demandasher.
The dash ain't silent.
Oh, anyway I could change it because the name is Demander:cool:

Nice spec list dude :)

Quite an improvement over the New Build Advice thread from a few months back!

Before the build. The case and motherboard was out of stock so I had to change.
I took the Gigabyte Luxo MIO (don't really like it but it fir my build. Since the cpu is not unlock I dont need a Z97 really wanted one but I downgraded to a H97.

The results of my first build:cool:

The temporary set up for my two cases will be building a custom desk maybe next week
PySS39E.jpg

I think it came out pretty neat for my first time.
Fan set up
2 x 120mm Sickle in the top as exhaust
1 x 120mm gigabyte standard fan infront as intake
1 x 120mm gigabyte standard fan at the back as exhaust
2 x 120mm gigabyte standard fan at the side as exhaust.

Will play around with bios and in next week ill put up .temps and performance (any recommended softwares?)

Any comment or help will be highly appreciated.

Been running +-6 hours (moderate use) stock settings

Today I ran MSI Intel Extreme Tuning.
I ran CPU Stress (5hours)
the max temp was 74*C and min temp was 24*C. The CPU was maxed out and fans only ran at 50%.

I run the front intake at full speed.
Top intakes and back exhaust is controlled with Smart mode.
40*C = 20%
60*C = 50%
75*C = 75%
80*C = 100%

GPU fan is 20% and only increase when gaming will see this weekend
Side intake is running full speed.
Anyway I could improve my temps? And is my gpu fans intake or exhaust? otherwise i need to change the top fans.

More updates coming (aftermarket cpu cooler and custom desk)

Turn your roof fans around, so they exhaust rather than intake. "Hot air rises". From the image I can see that air is just circulating rather than being directed.

Will do tomorrow and what do you mean by circulating? And is it good or bad? (never bothered with fan config. Was always front intake back exhaust

Circulation is BAD. You want air to go in and then directly out. Since heat rises, the air goes up, gets blown down, rises again, and is stuck in that loop. If the top is exaust its better for airflow and temps.
