Dell's on shelves

I like this idea, I dont think people realise how good looking most dell computers are until you see them in the flesh.

I think they should start opening Dell retail stores :p

Unfortunately it won't be. People will think 'Ooo ive seen 'dem on the tv' and go for them. ...Fool's.

worry not my friends!

i am a techie at pcworld...............I SHALL STOP THEM ALL!!!!!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA

in reality though, i am ashamed to be working in the same store that sells dells. - and tbh, so are the majority of the half-intelligent people there.

See Dell kiosks in malls all the time, not exactly `on the shelves`, pretty much demo stuff and sign-here.

I think Dell are not only fairly good with their kit, excluding cases, but aftersales, from experiences I`ve listened to, have been very good.

I don`t hesitate telling some1 to buy a Dell, put it that way, next under them are Acer who are above HP, imo of course.

Wonder if they`ll stick to site prices too.

Seeing their monitors in the flesh will be a very big selling point.

Dell are NOT good pc's. They lock the bios so you can't overclock and use strange mobo's so you couldn't even swap out the mobo, you'd need a new case too.

I bought a dell a while back and almost instantly sold it and built a custom. It was quiet and is ok for average Joe (not news team Joe - he's smarter than the average bear) but not OK for anyone on this forum.

This is an overclocking forum, we should only be interested in products that are good to us a consumers...

Ok I think Dell deserves a bit more credit for its products than what it's getting in this thread, let's be fair now. There are FAR more brands out their are FAR worse than Dell in the computer industry...... eMachines, Gateway, Acer ring a bell, just to name a few.

Agreed on the tech support, their consumer based support is absolutely horrible and I know from personal experience. However, their product is quality and it's hard to deny that if you've owned a Dell in the past. I purchased two Dell's last year and loaded them up with 6600GT's and 2gb's of RAM to go in my gaming lounge and they ripped, made for sweet LAN parties, and they never gave me any gaff. I also just sold a 10 year old Dell laptop to PV down in Australia, and it still runs like the day it was purchased with the exception of some battery issues which is to be expected after 10 years.

So yeah, I wouldn't give Dell so much grief, they don't make horrible computers. In the way of store-bought and pre-assembled machines they are one of the best.

dell's are perfect for n00bs, they're dureable, and quite well built, they do exactly what they say they do, and tbh, reek of quality...or i think so..

but for anyone who needs performance, no...

the only 2 things dell makes that are any good are laptops, and moniters...

That`s more of a slam on the customer tbh. He does sound like a gash.

Well u aint exactly gonna get one to oc are u. But u can get ur mom/dad one if u know what I mean.

Yeah, I know but it just rang a bell when I thought about Dell + customer service. I guess they're good for people who just want a PC, but for people who like to tinker and play games, not advisable...

Yeah I think Mr. Smith kinda missed the point a bit. Who buys a Dell to overclock? Nobody I know, and that's not what they're built for, so why would they include the options? Would you take that liability if you were that big of a company, and let owners of your computer overclock them, fry them, and have them try to return them claiming that your product killed itself? I THINK NOT.

We need to get real here. These are good PC's for your everyday folk. No, they aren't machines we would purchase because we're clockers, thats what we do, and that's why we don't buy them. However there are countless amounts of consumers who are more than impressed with the performance of of their Dell PC which does more than they could ask for.
