I know, I know. I have issues. Upgrade issues.

- Stick with the 3870X2 until the next big thing hits which wont be the 9800gtx (9800gtx perf. exactly same as g92 gts clock for clock) maybe the r770 which has no release date as yet :(

- Get a 790i mobo, slap in x2 g92 gts or x2 g80 gtx (i like this idea but it is expensive.)

- get 1 ultra ~£300

- get 1 512 gts or 1 g80 gtx ~£200

Getting a new expensive mobo is a bit off putting with nehalem(sp?) round the corner with a new socket, meaning new mobo!

Tbh gettin an ultra isnt really a viable option anymore. Not the best and can pretty much be beat by 3970X2 in quite a few things.

You could wait for the GX2 to come down in price?? Already dropped £40 from release day.

I'm in the process of slapping two heavily stock overclocked 8800GTS (g92) cards on a 790i

i think that u are save for the future with the 790i motherboard, 3 months ago i was still running on a pentium 4, 1gb, and a 7950 gt card, and did run ut3 and bioshock with no problems at all, i was at that time amazed by the core 2 duo, and some months before that i was amazed when the pentium dual core came, i was still laughing aboud a quadcores, becouse we found the duelcore still amazing at that time, so we where like: ''why the heck do they make that much cores,,.

it was also becouse we where still running on some pentium 4's.

right now the quadcore is used alot, and probaly the nahalem will be used alot to after a while, but right now some games only use duelcores, and games can run well on a pentium 4, maybe not so good as a quad or a duel, but yes.

the 790i gots ddr3, native pcie 2.0, good support for a quad core, overclocks well, and has 3 way sli, iam shure that this mobo will stand for a long long time, sins its preforming great as far as we seen on some reviews like here.

aboud the graphics cards, i think u will be fine with a 8800 gts, or even 2 in sli, or u can wait till april 1st and get 1 or 2 9800 gtx cards wich are also in the same price range, (and they got 3way sli support if u want to upgrade even more)

Smithy.. Ya say "9800gtx perf. exactly same as g92 gts clock for clock"... This actually gonna be the case? I mean its gonna gobble a serious amount more power... If the price of umm can't remember $300 - $350 was it? is to be believed then two of them on a 790i could be nice.

I just can't see that they would release a card called 9800GTX and not having it bettering its older brother the 8800GTX by more than a couple of FPS or even the Ultra really.... Surely there is no way they could do it?

Well 9800GTX is very different to 8800GTX.

But supposed better SLI sclaing, tri-sli for G92, etc etc.

And I thought it was only going to be around the same price that 8800GTS 512 was a few months ago when it came out. £200ish

i think nvidia upgraded their 8800 gts, sins it preformed so well, then they changed the name of the 8800 gts to 9800 gtx. gave it a few upgrades, and another cooler, tri sli, and better scaling and there u go, u got a 9800 gtx, nvidia does this just to make some more money so some gamers sell their 8800 gtx, or 8800 gts wich they make a los on, this way nvidia gets more cards sold.

anyway, we are talking aboud a little more money on a card, and if u dont got a good card yet, then its a great card to buy, specialy if u get a 790i with tri sli. but its not worth it selling an old card like a 8800 gts/gtx, becouse u make a loss, and nvidia win of sold cards. still if u want a g92 with tri sli, then its a go for shure :D

I get that the scaling will be better but just as a stand alone single card it has to be better than all three in most cases.. Obviously there will probably be exceptions but even then there shouldn't be.

If it aint they should just flog it as a 9800GTS until they can cook up something better and give it the real GTX title.

Nice. Benching will be great and perf looks good - beats the gx2 here

Yup, plenty of testing out there already, clock for clocke exact same perf. Only advantage is you can clock it higher to get that little bit more and tri-sli.

$300-$350 so probably £300 lol. It isn't better scaling for just the g92, that is a bit of marketing. It seems nvidia have got sli to scale better across the board BUT the new gpu's offer tri-sli...

Agree with the first paragraph.

That would have been the smart thing to do...

Edit: When is nehelam out?

Edit 2: Because if i drop £300 on a mobo that is getting replaced in a couple of months I won't be happy...

SInce Nahelem will be needing a new CPU/MOBO New socket as u all no, dont think u should be upgrading to a 790i

You have an asus Blitz, Which is still a damn good mobo. and u have the 2nd/3rd best GPU out there right now man

People would kill for ur rig.

If you have the need to fiddle/tweak with ur rig, maybe work on ur case or cable management or something.
