hey all,

just registered tonight so (fresh meat) :p

i recently build a pc about 2 months ago. i could only aford everything bar the gpu. my specs are.

phantom 410
i5 3570k
z77x-d3h
vengence low profile
700 coolermaster psu
120 intel ssd
1tb hdd

i will be using my panasonic 42" (TX-P42UT30B) tv untill i move out into my own pad which will be about 8 months away. this tv only has hdmi connections on the back.

my birthday is coming soon so the misses bought me a gpu (isnt she nice) anyway it was a hd 7870 sapphire ghx edition. installed the gpu and when i fired the pc up there was a black screen on the tv. i updated my bios, changing the onboard graphics and changed different connections on the gpu to hdmi and still nothing. i tired everything the internet could provide. so the gpu was sent back.

now im looking a gpu which will work straight from hdmi on the gpu into my tv (plug and play). looking to spend up to £300.

could some advise me please.

sorry for the story lol

it was a sapphire, i want something with RMA in the uk.

that msi gtx 670 looks awsome. going a bit over the budget it fine.

how have i not seen these prices before! lol

yeah i fell in love with the hawk when i seen it but i wanted something with a bit more power like a gtx 670 or 79** range. so i dont mind spending more money. what is your gpu

tbh im new to pc gaming. i have been busting my nuts to do it for years. i have a ps3 and a 360 sitting here.

i love rts games and love games like bf3 etc.

Well, I can get around 40fps on my overclocked 7850 playing Crysis maxed out, so I really don't need any more power. I haven't got BF3, so couldn't comment on how that performs. Still, the 670 is a great card :)

Dont start me on overclocking. its a complete mind f**k. i tired it a few times with my cpu and had to reset it with the cmos. ive decided to leave it untill i get an afternoon to myself so i can have a proper read about it.

i have been told my friend to get the 7850. he swears by it. i accually think hes after another one.

im not sure what to get tbh. i just want something thats going to work plug and play hdmi with my tv. theres alot of though it it tbh.

this is the tv i will be using.

im still debating over a cheap 670 or a 7950.

anyone here who has either could you help me decide pleaseeeee :)
I think for most people the 670 is better. There's nothing wrong with the 7950 (I have 2 of them) but you really need to overclock them to squeeze out the performance. At stock Nvidia is better. In either case just make sure you get one with a 3rd party cooler and preferably a factory overclock too.

yeah i was thinking along the lines of gigabyte or msi.

just worried what i buy because i want it plud and play hdmi with my tv
