Decent video playback?

Any decent software, don't mind if its freeware or pay for...

My problem is this - whenever I put a dvd into my pc to watch the pos won't play. WM player hangs, winamp just refuses and I deleted all the other

DivX playback is also really poo - really dark and shadowy... Tried different codecs, perhaps I am missing some. I don't know. Anyway reps to peeps who come up with working solutions wooo hoooo lol

Cyberlink PowerDVD is good software, been using it for ages for DVD playback and it's outstanding.
 
I downloaded VLC just now.

Seems pretty cool apart from the fact that some of my movies look pretty funky for the first 30seconds or so
 
Are you guys talking abt VKC as in the Video LAN player?

I hate that with a passion >=( horrible UI in movies IMO..

I like the simplistic right click for options, otherwise just screenplay and enjoy. + Open Source ftw tbh.
 
I've used PowerDVD from day 1 (since fitting a DVD drive in my Penti III rig)

Got WinDVD free with my ASUS board, but didn't like it, so went back to PowerDVD.
 
I got so many OEM Nero cds in the place, I tend to use it`s one, but once it`s installed mediaplayer likes playing dvds.
