while inactivity occurs on my computer it reads minimum 20% ram usage. i have ran the benchmark tests and they seem to be considerable less than similar systems.

mem usage will all depends on everything you have open mate, i have tons open a game minimised and im still only using 3gb

You have it, you use it. I'm using 40% just with chrome, WLM & XMPlay.

Windows alone takes about 1-1.5GB, if you have 4GB RAM.

RAM usage does not matter at idle... A lot of programs pre-load information, Windows 7 does this a lot with Prefetch, perfectly normal and good.

My 4gigs are sitting currently at 35% with music playing and Firefox open (which uses a lot of RAM). Windows services using most other than Windows.

Anyway, if you want to minimize you're ram usage at idle do the following:

- Go to start, and type "msconfig" in the search bar, hit enter

- Go to startup tab and deselect every process you don't need

(i deselected everything exept the virusscanner)

- To minimize the ram usage even further, go to the services tab

- Deselect every service you don't need, but leave all microsoft services running

If the pc does anything wrong after this you have to figgure out witch process/service needs to be ennabled again. As long as you know what you are doing you can't mess anything up with this method.

I minimized the ram use at idle from 1,4 gigabyte to +-1,0 gigabyte by doing this, but the result really depends on witch progams you have installed on you're pc. Performance gain is very little with modern systems since they can handle almost everything with ease....

Cheers!
