Hello All,

Looking for some help please i have just upgraded my mobo & ram and i'm having issues

Please Help !!!!

Mobo - Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z

Ram - GSkill Ripjaw X 1600 Mhz 16Gb (4x 4Gb)

Not fort the lack of really trying I cannot get the system to run the 16Gb it will only run 12Gb.

It will not recognise the 4th stick. I get error code "55" tried changing the settings in the bios changed the ram sticks around etc etc.

Error code "55" is ram not inserted correctly but it is inserted correctly.

I can get 16gb of cheap 1333 MHz of ram to be recognised but no joy at all with ther ripjaws.

Its really doing my head in

Has anyone else had a problem with 16Gb of ram in this board at 1600 Mhz.

Any help at all would be great

Thanks

^ this. Rule out a board issue by trying a working dimm in each slot. Then test each dimm in a working red slot.

BTW, you should also update the bios on the board, can load it onto a small usb stick and flash it. The bios on mine when I bought it was a massive fail.

try running the 4 sticks at 1333 and see if that works.

If it does its a voltage that needs tweaking (not ram volts directly), the more memory you put in the more you have to configure them properly.

I have it a like 1.32v on a 2600 k at. 45x

100 for 4.5ghz

But bare in mins all chips are different/silicon lottery

Plus my ram may be tighter timings at. 8-8-8-27 t2 1600mhz

Just bump the voltage up a little until its more stable but don't get to high obviously

I think it was the gov who mentioned upping the memory controller voltage^^

Role on ivybridge's supposbly awesome memory controller!

Error code 55 means one of two things either a faulty slot/ bent CPU pin which you have ruled out or CPU IMC can make the frequency but the DIMMS need tuning to do so. Remember its VCCIO voltage that supplies the memory controller. So you may well need to bump this up too. I would play with DRAM volts, timings, CPU volts, VCCIO and VCCSA volts also. Initially try passing 55 with no overclock on CPU, memtest once stable apply CPU overclock and retest.

Ivy IMC is very strong yes!!!!

Well if you have seen my posts then on OCUK you will have already seen my hints!!!! I am under NDA I am affraid as far as details on this go. Search around the net for what those who have broken NDA are saying.

4.5-4.8ghz, using a raystorm block and reasonably high flow rate but a double thick 120 and double thick 160double radiator shared with a gfx card.

i know its probably under radiated but thats due to the Ft03 case!
