Ddr 550

Is it any different from DDR 500? I am serious about getting some new ram for my rig before DDR gets phased out.

I need to hit 3.1+ on air!!

G.Skill makes a nice DDR550 kit that I'd definately look in to. I would imagine that DDR550 is more or less just a marketing ploy though. Find some good sub-DDR550 with a great track record and you should be able to pull 300+mhz from it. But that G.Skill DDR550 might be capable of that too :)

Is there any kit in particular that you're looking at?

Just get some ballistix 2x512 kit. They dont die, they WILL do 270MHz FSB, and they're cheap. Only con is you NEED to have a fan directly over them, or they will kick the bucket.

Well, I was looking into, like you said, G.Skill. But I would be going down to 1GB (could go with 4 sticks), but I don't know if I want to do that.

I saw Corsair's mem, 2GB kit, that seems nice also. Right now, I'm undecided.

Did you ever pick out a kit?

I'd look in to the Ballistix that Nick mentioned or go back and check out the G.Skill DDR550 kit again, both are superb.

And I don't know if it's been resolved but back when I was heavy in to AMD clocking Corsair was about the least compatible/overclockable memory to use with AMD's. Might be all better now?

Going with Geil.

i have a set of TCCD 2x512 from G.Skill that was doing 314 2.5-3-3-3 1T and 338 3-3-4-3 2T. If you are going for 2x512 see if you can find some TCCD just from my personal experience. I think I will break these bad boys out and see what I can do with my old 3700+ sometime soon.

Yup, gonna try to get my hands on some TCCD or BH-5. As far as size goes, am i going to notice a HUGE difference in gaming since Ill be going from 2gb to 1gb?

I think I have some BH-5 RAM sitting around, but it's a friend's so he would be the one to set the price. Also, I can't really test it to see how high it can go as I don't think my mobo can handle very high vDimm.

I have some tccd from centon that does at least 275 mhz . Thats on DFI Expert which isnt suited for tccd. I am sure on an ultra-d or some other board along that line up will take it higher. Let me know if you want them. Geil is good , so is gskill. If anything else , run a divider , A64 doest really care that much for a divider neways. Im running my rig with a divider .

Yeah running a divider right now, it's the only way I could overclock because my ram is just awful.

twisted5 told me hes selling his G.Skill for 100 bucks, I just need to get the money. If I can't get the cash, ill pick up some Geil for $89 more.
