dayz facepalming

too many shrooms
right so i have recently been playing dayz, its a good game with a lerning curve to has a fecking overhang. for the most part i have enjoyed it, bar a few little niggles.

now am sure i can't be the only one who feels this way, as there are some great people online to play/talk with.now my problems are the fact that when you spawn, you go to a city to get some supply's to start you journey.thats if you make it to the city for the number of players, that sit in sniping position's along the coast is ridiculous.an when you do eventually get up north there are barely any players, because there all at the coast being killed by snipers.

also what happen's to peoples intelligence in the side chat given that, most (not all but the vast majority) of players turn into six year old's. they think its fun to not give answers to questions just to try, an bait you into some childish play ground argument. its really began to put me off the game but like i said, it cant just be me that feels like this right???

It is the main reason why most of the original dayz community has gone. It used to be a much less of an issue. Heck, the sniping only recently became an infestation the moment people like frankieonpcin1080p on youtube switched over to making videos on dayz as opposed to battlefield 3 . The way he played it was much less trusting. This lead to other people joining dayz and treating it like a regular fps. It has gotten worse and worse since people discovered that battleye is absolute bum as a anti-hack system as well. I've been killed by a t90 tank before.
Occasionally me and a few of my friends (our biggest team was 10 people) go on a sniper hunt on random servers and the snipers can be classed into four categories:

-Children (I've axed a few of them a question before, heuheuheu. They can't fight for toffee and usually will disconnect if they think they are in danger)

-Hackers (Some people hack just to go after snipers as well, causing another downwards spiral)

-admins (usually the more senior admins like nothing better than spawning in loot for themselves)

-Old community members who're fed up with the majority of players so they'll happily hunt anyone down, especially if they don't shut up in the chat.

It saddens me every time I go on dayz. At one point I ran a dayz server and it was glorious. I still would if I didn't have to put up with small children, script kiddies and COD-ers . Heck, even my ol' garry's mod server had less of a child infestation.

When I first saw DayZ I was really excited. However, a part of me realised that when human beings are put together in such a scenario they will inevitably act like and become cold assholes.

Games like DayZ only highlight the real problems we face as humans on a daily basis, and it's that sort of stuff I go out of my way to avoid. As an example, both my fiancee and myself have refused to watch the news for years now as it's nothing but fear mongering.

It's just a sad fact of life really. In games like that people should be punished for killing other 'survivors' not rewarded for it.

That's why I stuck to Left 4 Dead, because you either stuck together and looked out for each other or you died. And that's why I love Left 4 Dead so much.

I've talked to rocket before (dayZ's main dev) and told him to implement a server based option that would either remove pvp or at the least stop people from loosing their stuff when killed.

yeah i don't watch the news myself mate for the very same reason, an i totally agree if you kill other survivors you should be punished not rewarded.

i haven't try'd out left for dead i may have to give it a pop, there is also one called state of decay in development that looks like it could be promising too (not sure if its multiplayer tho)

Thanks :D. It is true though :/.
This is how I deal with children sometimes. The "Axe me a question" thing is quite common in dayz, its a kind of meme in some servers

Well keep me updated because I like the sound of that.
Yeah I will. :) I very much doubt it'll be implemented in the release of the game though. If it doesn't, either me or another dayz community member will create a server plugin that simply removes pvp damage. The main reason why there hasn't been a plugin for it yet is because it simply isn't wanted by the majority of players. I'd make it if I had the time and the experience.

As I have mostly given up on dayZ for now, I instead play DZS, which is what inspired dayz. As it is built like a normal arma mission, I have much greater control over it and I am able to host it locally. Trust me, nothing feels more epic in the game then meeting up with your friends, finding and repairing a MI-8, using said MI-8 to carry enough objects to build a fort while other members of your team attempt to locate an APC in order to give you greater firepower to support your friends. It really has a load of different options as well. I once played a game in which we had a semi clan war. If I do end up getting some spare cash again, i'll set a dedicated server up :D.
