Someone is going to need a new case if they want to use the BBM

lmfao

Looks good, definietly an improvement over your other build

What are those HeatKiller Waterblocks like by the way? i'm trying to decide on what CPU block to get and that's one of them. So far it's a choice between the HeatKiller, XSPC RASA and the EK Supreme HF i'm holding out for a cheap one on Ebay or a forum before I buy one though.

Well to be honest the block doesn't really matter, I had a read up and the HK between the EK was like 1-2 degrees cooler, but it all depends on your water loop.

I think the HK's look a lot snazzier.

Thanks! I think the case looks way better also.

I might go for the HK, depends if a cheap RASA or EK turns up on Ebay though. Thanks for the info anyway.

Just waiting on a site to get some paracord in stock! And I'll be tidying up the cables a bit more.

Hi
smile.gif

Thanks for the links you sent me!

So, how's the rig performing, what sort of clocks are you running now and what temps are you seeing?

I'm running an Antec Kuhler 620 to cool my 2500k as you know, been really pleased with it too. It's doing a fine job with me at 4.6ghz though I did change the standard fan and replace with a pair of Alpenfohn ones in push/pull. Your rad looks to be 4x the size of mine!

With a 2nd GTX 570 on the way to me I'll be going SLi soon, initially using stock cooling, though ultimately I'll go water. I keep saying I'll wait for either SB-E or ideally IB and then build my proper rig but I'm not going to be able to leave my current (perfectly adequate) rig alone, I know it lol.

Oh, that looks like the same res and quite possibly the same block too, that I'd put on my "Stuff I'd would buy if I was upgrading but I'm not so this is pointless...ah, go on then" list

Cheers,

Scoob.

Erm, I'm on my laptop right now but temps are around 30s and clocks aren't changed at all. I wasn't sure if my temps were that great If I'm honest, may start to invest in better fans.

Ooo, nice, yeah the rad at the bottom is a Thermochill Pa120.2 (15mm rev) which are beastly rads. I think they've stopped production on the PA series and only really manufacture the TA ones, although I think reading back the important thing is the distribution of the hot air is released out of the case, that's what gives you the best results.

I'd stick with the rig you have now, personally. I recently upgraded from a Q9450 P35 board up to this SB rig and I can't see me updating anything over the next few years.

It's a great piece of kit and it's all working to the standard I need it to.

May slip in another SSD M4 while i'm at it though.

Hi,

If that's mid-30's under load then that's pretty good! I tend to idle at around mid-20's to low-30's depending on ambient and I'm generally in the mid-60's when running prime. Typically gaming I'd be low-50's though often that's only a couple of cores being worked of course.

My Kuhler rad is bolted on the rear fan mount pulling external air in, which is then vented out the top. I do have a cold air feed in the form of an old 120mm air con pipe, bring air in from the window. Works pretty well!

With this build I will have to go external rad to cool everything, though I need to plan exactly how things will be positioned as this room isn't that large.

I was using what's now listed as my Gateway PC (Q6600 + P35) until this build, though I was running the Q at 3.6 - quite a jump to the 2500k just at it's stock 3.3 I thought!

I think this rig certainly has to potential to do all I need for quite some time to come, especially with the 2nd 570 on it's way. However I want to do some water cooling!

Well it's like 30s idle and playing say Batman:AA with PhysX on, I don't get any higher than say 46?

That's good, idea, you don't want poor circulation.

Just remember with that second 570 it'll get warmer in your case.

Hi,

Sounds like it's working pretty well then
smile.gif

Yeah re: 2nd 570 - I will be running both back at stock initially & will keep a careful eye on temps. In theory both should get reasonable air-flow from the front 140mm fan as I've removed the lower drive cage. The lower one will also benegit from a fan I put at the bottom of the case as an intake.

We shall see when things arrive!

Cheers,

Scoob.

Cool, well be sure to post up your build log once the parts are in. I can't wait to see it in motion.
smile.gif

Yep
smile.gif
I'll be sure to include the out-takes too for when things don't go quite to plan
wink.gif

I'm still thinking hard about how best to build things, and have a few things that were on my mind - which I've popped in a new thread in the Liquid Cooling section.

Of course doing a build log means one very important thing...I need to get a better digital camera! Oh, and tidy up a bit first lol.

Cheers,

Scoob.

So just upgraded to my new Corsair 650D and I must say I'm VERY impressed with it.

Look's brilliant. Nice and clean
smile.gif
. I also like the lighting as it is not overpowering
smile.gif
.

Cheers man.
smile.gif
It's such a difference from the CM690's I've had. Cheers also on the lighting. That was mainly the reason for wanting the clusters, great fans with a few white LEDs to show off the internals.

Just need to do cable management, format my new HDD and get to playing BF3
