Why did I have to go and get a HTC Desire last year and then go and root it? Seriously. All I've done since is just flash like 20 billion ROMs onto it to see which one works. Anyone going through the same phase?

I have an android phone as well, rooting was the best thing i did to it! I love fiddling with things, my phone is so customizable! And i've flshed ROMS hundreds of times like you

I'd suggest getting the "ROM Manager" app if you're not already using it. Makes the flashing & backing up process a little easier/quicker to do!

Did you try the iPhone man its amazing, at first I was like an Apple hater beacuse I didnt really like Macs, but hands down to the iPhone.

iphone is nice... but nothing compared to android. With android you can change pretty much EVERYTHING, iphone is quite limited in that respect.

android is taking market share quickly.. thats my microsoft and nokia joined forces! They're scared of the android invasion

Also with the new Tegra 2 phones coming out, apple better start working on that iphone5!

The iPhone is just as customizable if you jailbreak. I used to run my old iPhone 2G jailbroken, had all kinds of themes and extra features/apps that a stock iPhone didn't have. I haven't felt the need to jailbreak my iPhone 4 though.

Edit: There are quite a few good android handsets, but there are a ton of crappy android phones as well. Android would be better off if it had a more uniform hardware platform IMO.

For those of you in the US with netflix, how's that streaming service working on your android handset?

I think the android platform is a little more developer freindly though. Google is encouraging it, by making them easy to root/jailbreak.

Yeah, there are some crap ones out there... but its a range of phones for a range of different people. Apple have 1 phone...with 1 set of features.

Given the choice between iphone4 and a Desire HD, i'd take the DHD any day of the week

Each to his own i guess!

Having one phone makes it much easier for developers. Most popular cross platform apps are available for iPhone before they are released in the android marketplace.

How many android phones could you root by simply visiting a url?

Too bad Apple fixed that exploit.

i went thru the same thing last year when i first got this desire but i have been using this leedroid rom since just before 2.3 came out and as yet i aint upgraded.

i say its leedroid as it kinda is but i have removed most of the apps in it and just added the apk i use.

i was reading about a 2.3 rom which is like this leedroid one but it pushes the clocks higher and lower (load/idel) than this im using now so i might use that as my base when i switch to 2.3.

I am still going through that, i flash like atleast 3 roms a week before going back to Oxygen. The desire is an awesome phone tbf.

I have an android phone but love coding tweaks and hacks for it as I've used linux for so long

I bought my android phone (which came as 1.6) and flashed+rooted it to 2.1 within 3hours of getting it in post.

Since then I have tried a few ROMs but ended up making my own hack pack which meant I was able to install a original ROM and just use my pack to fix the problems and install the apps I use.

More recently I moved over to cyanogen 2.2 (love the way you can fork off of it using github) with lots of tweak/hack packs and am loving it

I think one problem with some of the people who tweak etc is that they go too far and the phones become unstable, dropping core services or crashing. Sometimes even crashing to a boot loop.

There is a overclocked kernel for my phone with speeds of over 1Ghz but I've not even bothered as the phone seems quick enough since installing 2.2
