OK so as I said yesterday I ordered a gorgeous Asus motherboard from Dabs.com that was going to fix all of my problems.
Last night I got an email confirming despatch. They used Home Delivery Network. Oh FFS. I knew right there and then this was bound for tears.
So I got up at 7am this morning and checked the tracking. It was at the depot in Southampton, 70 miles from me. OK whatever, it'll be a late arvo delivery but it should arrive yes? Oh how I wish, and what a bleeding nightmare has ensued.
All day I waited, and at around 2:45pm I decided to go out front and tend to my front garden as the clouds broke letting in some sunshine. Gotta get that lavender ETC pulled before winter comes or it all dies and goes mank.
At 3pm on the dot I saw a HDN van pull up about 200ft down the street, right next to a farm field. I should have pointed out that I live in an *incredibly* rural and rather remote area. There is about a square mile of homes and a local village, and then nothing for 7 miles in either direction. Also, a mile or so south of me lies the bottom of the country and the sea. So yeah, the van pulled up and I got all excited. I then stood and watched in horror as the driver looked out of the window and drove away. Eh?
I figured maybe he was turning around to get onto my side of the street, but no. 25 minutes later nothing had happened so I went looking for a phone number to contact HDN. 0871. That means 10p a minute. To fix THEIR errors.
I phoned, and they said it was likely they had two vans in my area. Firstly a van could hold a package for EVERY house in my area, and secondly the depot is 70+ miles away in Southampton. So I knew they were full of crap and the driver had simply buggered off. I wasted about 30 mins on the phone (£3) before being told to call back in an hour. I called back, same old BS. "The parcel has not been scanned and nor has a failed delivery note".
I asked them to contact the driver and they said "we can't, our drivers do not carry cellphones or radios". EH? this is 20 chuffing 10 for F's sake.
I was then told (after another 30 mins, £3) to call back at around 8pm when the day was over, as then he would be back at the depot and contactable.
7:15pm. Your parcel is at the depot. No sh*t Sherlock ! of course it's at the f****ng depot the git didn't even try to deliver it ! So I phoned again. This time they were apologising ETC. I said that's not good enough, I want this dude's name and I want him fired for being a lazy ahole. They said I wasn't allowed to have the phone number for their main depot. So after a lot of swearing and shouting I put the phone down and found the number on google. This time I was assured my parcel would be redelivered tomorrow. But I'm going out tomorrow so chances are I will miss it again.
I've sent a complaint to DABS and I have the phone number for the head office so tomorrow they shall be getting a phone call and, at the end of the month, my bloody phone bill. I'm f****d if I am paying £6+ to sort their problems out for them. Here is a pic of my house (green square) and where the driver parked (A arrow). As you can see he didn't even bother to glance over to my side of the road before buggering off.
PLEASE do not order from ANY company that uses HDN. They are rubbish, the drivers are NOT contactable and they do not use GPS or Satnav units. So they spend about two seconds looking for your house and then simply bugger off, making no attempt to actually bother finding you.
You'll also pay 10p a minute for help which is non existant because there's nothing they can do any way. Their customer service line is just a complete bloody con, taking money from you and not being able to actually provide ANY kind of service.
