cutting into your rig

hey guys, when youre cutting into your rigs how do make the cut straight. i find that with a dremel i make it go wavy and how would you cover up the rough surface of a cut -apart from using an edge trim.

I use a jigsaw for straight cuts and ony use the dremel for small cuts. I then use a file to finish the cut and finally give it a sanding.

what about using a filler to cover up imperfections in cuts?

i suppose you use a special blade for steel, could it cut through plastic as well without shattering/melting it

I just use an ordinary woodcutting blade for acrylic, it doesn't melt the acrylic as long as the backing plastic is still on. Whenever I have made cuts without the backing plastic, the acrylic has melted on the cut. Not sure why, but it's happened every time I have used acrylic.

Whenever I am cutting anything, I always undercut by 1-2mm so I can file down and get a good finish. I never try to cut exactly to the required measurement because if I go wrong, there is no margin for error.

It's always wise to get some scrap in the material you are going to be using, and practicing cutting, especially if you aren't confident with the tools.

I know people use masking tape to prevent excessive scratching of the case `n` stuff.

Means u can draw a good pencil line for where u want to cut too.

Nice and professional like ;)
