Custom router

Hey guys,

Im a relatively new poster on overclock3d, i figured some of you might get a kick out of my router. I probably spent more time building this than my PC

I know the fans are WAY overkill, but i have it overclocked to the max, its a WRT54GSv5 running DD-WRTmicro.v24

the cpu is overclocked to 250mhz(from 200) and the broadcast is overclocked to 225mW(from 28mW)

I added the fans just using a DC to AC converter, with a rheostat so i can turn em up or down with a power strip inside. I origionaly had a 250W psu just for the fans but then it hit me that i would have needed a mobo to plug it into.

You can happily mod your own router, how do you not know how to jump start a power supply?

And that is absolutely MASSIVE! lol

lol, nice mod! I'm running a WRT54GL myself, with DD-WRT v24 mini. It's at default clocks though and 100mW. I love these routers you can mod, been using them for quite a few years now. I have them all over with yagi antennas being used for point-to-point connections. I got started with wireless with a 200mW mini-pci b card, a cantenna, and modded wireless routers.

ive never had to jump a psu before.

A quick google told me how easy it is though, /facepalm

I'm probably going to paint it and give it a name sometime as well, nothing comes to mind though

Cool

I have a WRT54GS with custom firmware (for firewall, irc bouncer etc)

Don't think I'd bother putting it in a case as it seems really stable and clocking it didn't make any difference.

That case/box is pretty massive in comparison to the router

Recently I was thinking of getting a different router because the WRT54GS has no USB storage & it uses an old broadcom chipset (only 54g wifi).

Was even thinking of building a mini pc system as a firewall as that's what I did years ago to learn iptables, squid & exim
