Crysis Remastered's PC version is a disappointment - Here's why

Pah you lot and your negativity :p

Nah actually I agree it's a bit of a farce. They've remastered the Xbox 360 version for some strange reason.

Ah well, I'm enjoying the little of it I've played lol.

I got the original and 2 for free so feel buying this is sort of pay back for the fun I've had with the originals so not so disappointed

Perhaps they botched the performance on purpose in an attempt to reignite the “can it run Crysis” thing. This, however, just makes them look like idiots at best and idiot marketing driven at worst.

SMT off is the way to go

I am glad you wrote this article and i do understand your frustration. We are all in the same case.
I sent a message to Cryrek to talk about this issue.i hope i won't be the only one.

I have a ryzen 1700 oc 4ghz. - vega FE
With SMT on, it is a disaster.
(High settings at 1440p without RT. Only shadows and post processing at medium)

With SMT off, 8 cores are used and my gaming experience is very good.
However there is 1 core always above 90%
So in somes scenarios, i am "cpu bottleneck".
But most of the time, framerate is above 60/70fps without stutter.

Actually, Hunt showdown is the only game made by Crytek that is well "cpu optimised".
Crytek has spent a lot of time over the last 2 years to optimize Hunt Showdown. And honestly, the result is very good.

Forgive my bad english. i did my best.

There's really no excuse for cut content. Even though most people didn't like that mission, it's a part of the original game and should stay a part of the game. It's also false advertisement by omission. They should have told people about it beforehand and they know it.

As for performance, the game will probably receive a patch or two. DLSS support is supposed to come as one of the updates.

I'm not about to defend them from the glaring issues with this game but that mission, IMO, should never have been one of them.

It's crap. The most linear "point and shoot" part of the game which totally flew in the face of the rest. So personally? I don't miss it.

The game has been rushed out though. I wondered how one minute they are hiring game engineers and within six months it has been released. Now I know how. It's not finished yet.

They made a mistake because they took the most iconic PC game and reworked it for consoles.

Don't agree. No console we have now can run this even remotely as good looking as the PC can.

They just need to sort out their CPU handling.

It's been rushed, but that doesn't mean it's terrible. The things that are? are all easily fixed.

Another one of the maddest things visually is the windscreen in the jeep. That's absolutely sick the way it works. So realistic.

I think the bones are very solid, but once again we have an incomplete rushed out game. Quelle surprise, they are all like that.

£17.99 was £3 less than I paid for the original all those years ago, and it is fully playable. So I don't feel hard done by, like crud like Fallout 76.

it´s simply another money grab by crytek.

i loved the original crysis.

the fact that i can´t save whenever i want is enough for me to not buy this release.
i do this all the time to replay parts of a game and try different tactics.

well the few hours a month i actually play games.

Nah i think its not quite that, but at same time its a little exploitive. We, the fans have been begging for the remake for a long time. Crytek followed through at the same time as charging us for it. But the fee they ask is not that bad if you ask me.

Also Crytek have been through hell fighting bankruptcy while developing their engine we all know deserves credit, so im happy to reward them for their work.

The original game had some technical problems being single threaded. I'm not sure why it would be a money grab by Crytek because it still has performance problems. Everything else is really not bad. A couple issues here and there but they can be fixed.

I'm fairly certain Cryengine has had single threaded issues in multiple titles. This issue alone isn't a money grab. It's just them focusing on graphics more than performance.

Disappointed to hear this. I've always loved the game and it brings back a lot of good memories for me because I cut my teeth in overclocking with this game. Cranking on my Powercolor 4850 and AMD Phenom II X2 555 (with the 3rd core unlocked) day after day of stress testing and running the Crysis benchmark trying to get into the 40 fps with all high settings lol. Those were good times for me and I still replay the game about once a year just for nostalgia's sake.

I still may end up buying this eventually just for the hell of it. I do like these older games being remastered so I would like to support the developers that are doing them. I'm still holding out for a remastered Bioshock or Dead Space.

I still think its a worthy purchase. Its just that expectations need to be lowered a little.

I plan to publish a performance piece on the game tomorrow. It should clarify a few things and let players know how to tackle this game's CPU performance issues.
