In the last few weeks all the big American sites have been changing their release date for this game to September 11th. Now it seems the game is set for release over here on September 14th.

So get upgrading people, the wait is nearly over :D

Tbh thats the same trend we've seen for a long time with DX cards. 1st generation struggle a bit, 2nd improve on it, 3rd/4th wipe the floor with it and start picking on the next level.

More on topic.

They released a new vid for crysis the other day (3rd?) too. It looks really, really good.

I'm a bit "nngh" when reading DX10 reviews on stuff like Call of Juarez / Lost Planet and so forth, since they were DX9 games with added DX10 compatability. I'd more personally prefer a proper DX10 game like Crysis to show what the cards perform like. Also in respects of the G92, I heard that this line is a mid-range _only_ card between the 8600GTS and the 8800 GTS (8700 maybe?) to close that gap since the difference between a 8800GTS and the 8600GTS is quite large.

Can't wait for Crysis though :D I read the "Ultra High" requires are: E6600 C2D, 8800GTS and 2GB DDR2 which was posted on the EA forums and a Crysis (think it was non-official) website.

Yeah don't get me wrong I can't wait for this game, I've never really got excited over games before they are due but this one seems special.

I just hope it is :D

Surely on a cut down res anybody with a 2006 and above rig will be able to run it? I'm building my new one about November..

This is weird to see those tests showing that DX10 games kind of perform worth than DX9.

I installed and played the DX10 demo of lost planet on my rig with a 8600GTS (1280x1050) and it was pretty smooth and decent, not choppy at all...

Anyway I really hope crysis will do good, can't wait either. I loved FarCry!!!

I cannot wait for Crysis.

I think it is gunna be sooo good! :D

Not really bothered about DX10.. I won't be moving to Vista anywhoo..

DX9 FTW :p

DX10 will be fantastic when it's implemented well, much like the DX8 to DX9 transition. The effects are simply stunning :)

Where have you been hearing this? Ive read all over that the G92 was supposed to push a teraflop ect ect and its the 9800 with a supposed release date of next year Q1.

Exactly, bring your res down and youll be able to play it without AA. Trying to max it out on a first gen card is surely not going to be very pretty.

OC'd DX9 1950 pro from HIS with 512MB ?

Well i was talking merely more on the DX10 side ;) They are making a DX9 Version of this game right? Surely our monster top end cards could handle it easy.

Forget upgrading - looking at curent DX10 stats save your money for the G92!

Read his and cry ifyou have an 8800/2900XT

ee the charts under the graphs for diff res and AA, I was looking at my res 1920x1600 with 4xAA - about 15FPS.

Grrrreat lol.

Hopefully Crysis is heavily optimised for this gen of card.

The games of choice are developed with a baseline of dx9 for the most part, dx10 niceities thrown in via a patch or workaround. In order to have a really well optimized dx10 games firstly dx10 will have to be with devs with an sdk that works alongside an actual release that has been rev`d a few times. We could be talking over a year. U can get the odd exception, which would assumable come from the ms stables.

If any1 can pose a comparison of a game that works in both dx9 and dx10, I would throw out that there would be tags holding the game down in the name of compatibility.

Crysis has been in dev for a whole long time, I would not suggest that the game would be classed as a solely dx10, unless of course they have a dx10 sdk that works with XP. Let`s remember the age of Vista.

Soley dx10 games I would expect a sheer improvement. And although the G8x series of cards will not hold up to G9x - or G10x (now there`s a marketing tool G10 & Dx10), it`s current to this moment in time. W8 for G9x cards, w8 for the next gen, how long do u w8 as a gamer ? I think the only thing u can do (unless u`r talking weeks or a month or 2) is to buy what`s currently in u`r bracket. If u`r into highend gaming 8800, mid gaming 8600, desktop 8500. Don`t know anything about Ati, cept their best seems to average around the lower 8800, which aint that bad when u look at it with that pov.

Another thing to bear in mind, u have to look at a game that kicks-ass in dx9 on an 8800 - that performs poorly under dx10 - as exactly as it has to be.. a patched game. There is no reason that performance will be that badly hit without bad implementation, in this case I suggest a patch. The same game purely dev`d in dx10 will kick the same ass.
