z0mg cant wait for this game. the gfx and gameplay look outrageous. i still can't believe they went with software driven physics though :(

It was bound to happen! Otherwise people would complain about why it didn't work/look as good blah blah. Plus imagen the work to the engine to get it to run software and hardware. :(

Anywho, this looks awesome! What was the FPS on it? Did it say?

"Crysis demos benchies on a G80"

^ that should explain it, :P

the thing i find wierd is that 8800gtx's in sli 1280x1024 maxed out 0aa/0af, average 36 fps...

man what is this world coming to!

here i got a little comparison, dx10 cards have sm4, which will put more stress on the card, but have higher eye candy at similar settings

lets say 8800gtx high settings 2xaa/8xaf

and 7900gtx high settings 2xaa/8xaf

would they have same fps around ? cuz the 8800 has to work harder, since it has sm4, and 7900 has sm3

thats just what runs in my head, tell me if i need to update my logic :)

Sometimes depending on the game the lower gen card might get better frames on high, but it depends heavily on the hardware its used on.

remember u were telling me about ur 9800pro, and the sm2 vs. my 6800's sm3 :P

but my mobo is also garbage which might account for it

Ha it was late last night didn't even have time to read it properly myself :)

Well heres the test system specs for those who can't be bothered to read through the translated 'chinglish' (heh don't fret i'm chinese BTW :) )

So its supposedly an early build of directX10 demo of Crysis using a beta Nvidia vista driver, the thing i found interesting was that they've used 2 8800gtx in Sli in vista. As far as i know everyone on guru3d forums claims that Sli under vista is still not working yet, so thats something to take into account. Another thing is that they've used an Ageia Physics card in their testing, and note that in their charts they've listed 'physics on'.

Using fraps, they ran a 5 mins segment of the demo at three different res and took the average, max and min fps.

These tests were all run at high quality, no aa/af, and with physics on (i'd assume that means the Ageia physx?)

Anyway make of it what you will :) I for one think this is a legit 'preview' but its of a very bad and early build of the game (and its also badly done preview TBH). Crytek should release a directX10 demo man, show us the future!!!! :yumyum:

I don't think it's legit tbh, the nVidia cards is all they have to optimise for DX10 so there's no way they would make it run that bad on Ultra-high end hardware or nobody will buy it

Plus Crysis isnt using PhysX afaik

If they where going to do it, then why would they use an OS that isnt completely out yet (before today), beta drivers, a SLI rig with no software SLI support, PhysX with no software physics, and DX10 with no DX10 out yet? (If they really used a beta that is just making everything look bad)
