It looks like the VRMs can't handle upping volts at all. The BIOS fix makes the CPU throttle to save the board, but it also limits the overclocking to almost nothing. If you don't plan on overclocking at all, then the board is fine, otherwise Gigabyte will give exchanges when the fixed boards are available.

The boards have been recalled in retail channels too, so they shouldn't be on the shelves for much longer.

From the reports that Gigabyte received before the recall, people were having this happen with only "modest" overclocks.

No problems with my UD5 as yet with a 4GHz OC with a 3930k. Will update BIOS ASAP.

Edit: Am at 1.35v for 4.2GHz, and touch wood I've not had a burnout. Have now updated to F7 BIOS.

Strange that Dad was paranoid about leaving it on overnight though, and then this
