What people don't understand is that console gamers torrent just as much as PC gamers, there's just a different distribution method.
PC owners need a copy for themselves and nobody's likely to be selling pirated pc-dvd roms on dodgy markets or carboot sales. So the numbers of individuals torrenting skyrockets.
Console owners aren't so brave. They nervously get their console modified by some shady guy named Kev, then they fork out their cash to another Kev on aforementioned markets. There's less people downloading the game for consoles, but Kev sees the profit in burning that one download onto many dvds and selling them via those markets, or in the back of his shop. It's their own fault if they're ignorant of this, but devs are rarely taken to such markets, I suppose. Can you honestly say that the same couldn't be said of the Playstation, back then?
All in all I'm against piracy. If they came up with a format that couldn't be pirated in any way shape or form I wouldn't bat an eyelid. What I want is more honest reviews that aren't done by some kid with little-to-no experience with gaming as an art form, who considers a sub-par game excellent simply because he played it as a child. What I want is more demos being released. I want a lot of things.
