CRT problem.

For the longest time, there has been a bit of a problem with a samsung monitor which happens to be next to the kitchen, every so often there are static sort of lines on the right side of the monitor. Could this be a problem of say power distribution within the area that would be causing said problem?

Sounds like it to me, I am assuming that the monitor uses regular old VGA?

Pretty much. The first course of action is problably a different surge protector. Never used to have the problem when I first got it.

The biggest power drain in your kitchen area is going to be from your refridgerator, check to see if it happens when the fridge's compressor kicks on.

Anything with a big magnet could be causing it too.. Totally ruined an old CRT when I left a big sub sitting new to it. Not sure if anything in a kitched would give off a magnetic charge sometimes and not others.. Washing machine when in use perhaps?

Didn't even notice to be honest.. Had a spare few hours and have just been reading a few threads from each topic. Didn't think it was old because it was still near the top.. Sorry.

Or microwave. I think an 1100w microwave draws more than a compressor.

Huh? Isn't a kettle the thing you fill with water and put it on a burner on the stove? Or are you talking about a coffee maker..

Maybe in the stone age yeah. Our Kettles have heating elements built in. Poor in the water, switch on, 5 mins later it boils.

Ohh, a tea kettle. Yeah, plug in ones aren't very popular here I guess. Heck, whenever I drink tea like if I have a cold I just boil water in the microwave and set the tea bag in it.
