Crossflow Extreme

I forgot if I had posted this comp here or not (problems when you get old:))

I made this for a Lan Party. As usual I started a week before the Lan and had to rush it but it turned out quite a bit better than the earlier versions.

The Red Crossflow comp had a dual 80mm rad and for this one I really wanted a more performance rad. I found a HP oil cooler for a race car that basically I built a case around.

Here is a shot showing the inside of it.

Here is a shot of the CarbonFiber mobo tray, the water fittings and the pair of laptop hdds.

here is a pict of the underside of the mobo tray showing the PS mount, HDD heatsink and DVD

here is my favorite shot of the wiring (before)

here is the after (first version)

I re designed the inside after swapping the mobo (DFI 590 to Asus P5N E SLI)

notice the HDD heatsink is bigger and mobo wiring is plug in to air box. Also there are the 3 80mm Silverstone 70CFM fans.

I liked the Asus mobo as it was about 1/2" narrower that a standard mobo

(notice the DDC pump using a Petras top mounted to the rad)

So ridiculously tidy.. In the first few pics I wasn't sure what it would look like and then the last one just shows its class. Nice!

I dunno, I think I actually run out of proper words to use when looking at markkleb`s mods.

I been scrolling the picks up`n`down for 15 mins or so, checking out the detail - which is simplisticly brilliant, as u usually find with a tradesman. Like if a chippy comes to ur house to hang a door or something.

Part of me thinks I`ve seen some of it b4 perhaps, or it could be the methods used for like the drives an`stuff.

U got a closed unit final photo ?

Ras: That was final enough for me, when I closed it up it wasent as fun to look at.

C'mon, we want to see the final product! Pic's!

"simple" is what I shoot for, I come from the school that says the more connections the more chances for leaks.

As to its top thats a funny story,

The night before the Lan I was topping off the water and driped some on the mobo and POP!! that was it. I was so upset I wasent going to drive 600 miles with no working comp and I had put my last penny into the comp so I had no $ left for a new mobo (not to mention all the soldering needed). I told the guys that were going to be at the lan I was sorry I couldnt go (honestly I just wanted to stay home and cry).

They made such a fuss I felt really bad, than one guy (Rich) actually bought me a new mobo and said it would be waiting for me at the Lan. I had to go so I packed up all my tools and parts and actually rebuilt the whole comp there during the Lan.

It was pretty amazing as so many came by to watch and chat. Since I had all my tools there were guys on the floor around me and we were modding their comps as well.

I never got to game but it was the most fun I ever had.

By mistake I actually left the top at the Lan and I am sure one of the cleaning staff thought it was a piece of junk and threw it away.

Decent to sort u out with a mobo :)

Bet the top was pink with a stegasaurus type razor trim to it, and green furry bits stuck to it that shimmered as the fans blew ??

Am I close ?

Perfect except for the orange fur lined fans....:D

Actually It was perf alum front, back and left side, with a smoke plastic top and right side with 2 of the modded Silenx fans for cooling. (but you were sooo close, lol)
