crossfired 5850's which motherboard

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd bounce this little dimela I have at the moment. I have built my kids a PC with a Gigabyte X48-DS5 Motherboard in it etc etc. My gaming rig has a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P in it running my 5850 graphics card.

Here's the question - If i were to run 2x5850's in crossfire (soon), would the X48 be the better board to use?

Yes mate as x48 is 16x 16x. The P45 would be 8x 8x on the pcie.

Simple answer is the x48 is full speed Crossfire.

With the 2 boards (EP45-UD3P and a X48-DS5) in a 5850 crossfired config , would the FPS be better with the X48 considering I am running on a 22inch monitor.

Yes mate it would, as in the P45 the GPU's will as good as be running at half speed.
