Creative ZXR?!?

I'm mostly going to use my new sound card for gaming... Is the ZXR worth the extra $50 over the Asus Xonar STX? With the creative you get 2 cards, and one control knob... as for the ASUS its just the card, i believe... I don't normally listen to music, but I do watch movies on occassion with my onkya reciever for home theater system.

I forgot to mention that I'm using my DT 990 250 OHM headphones for gaming.

Little point in getting either if you don't use them for music, and only use them through a home theatre.

Get an Asus D2X.

The STX is designed for headphone users rather than for home theatre systems. The D2X would be better designed for you, and I'd never buy anything Creative.

Do you use the unified drivers?? As well I can go to my local store and pick up the creatives any time... the STX I have to order them, would this make a solid difference or the quality is just unmatched with the STX?

I'm fine with the normal drivers tbh. I've never really felt the need for more.

The STXs are great quality all round, whilst Creative tend to cut corners a lot more. Their ZXR range is far better than their Recon ranges, but I'd still rather take the STX.

Definitely worth ordering in the STX!

Saw title had to come, do not buy the ZXR!! no no no no!!

It's rubbish based on the recon3d 'chipset' from creative and is a pile of pants, they should never have tried to 'out-do' the X-Fi cards by rolling back to older, crappier hardware....

Get the STX.
