Remember thats because alot of people will simply not be finding the true maximum, or posting higher than maximum and stable is a concept.

Fair enough, that`ll do for you, I take stable to be capable of running what I need without crashing Prime doesnt figure in my setup

well my x2 4800 under phase did 3.168Ghz and got me to no1 in the CPC benchmarks, thats probably a good thing to aim for

Nope, stable is whatever you choose to classify it as.

For some, stable is long enough fro a 1m pi run

I guess (back to your question unreal LOL) there isnt a database of overclocks- only loose lists of rough overclock potential. Most of us have a reasonable idea how well a chip will once we know its stepping, TCM, TPD and week info.

I completely disagree with you there I'm afraid. I have to say that gaming is more intense than running benchmarks and prime. Also, how does prime prove your overclock is stabe? It puts your CPU into 100% usage yes, but all that does is what games and benchmarks do anyway lol.

I think a stable overclock is what ever you want it to be. Take my last clocks, I can run games perfectly fine all day long @ 2.9Ghz but 3Ghz the system will hang after about 2-3 hours. That for me is a partially stable OC but not quite there. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's not stable because I can still get 2-3 hours of gaming before the system hangs.

It just depends what you do with your system. I play games, browse the web and listen to music. Why would I need to run Prime 95 for 12 hours to use those apps? Quick answer is I wouldn't as I'm not pushing the CPU 100% all the time lol. It all depends what you use the system for.

Well my system is used more for gaming and not benchmarking so if i can get 3ghz from the X2 4800 and my games run ok with no problem im happy.

Question my X2 4800 Core volt is 1.31v is this right? nothing has been touched in bios and not started overclocking yet.
