CPU or SSD

well as it says in the title.

Shall i upgrade my CPU or get 2 SSD's for a raid0 set up?

on my current budget i'm limited to my cpu choice. i have to stick with a phenom as my board doesn't support the latest FX cores ( or am i wrong? M4N98TD evo) so i would probably be looking at either a 1055t or 1100t (unless i can get a bulldozer but i've heard only bad things about em)

Or i can get 2x OCZ agility 3 60g ssd's.

Which am i going to see better performace from?

obviously the ssd's will make my pc boot faster and react quicker but i am a gamer is it going to affect my gaming in any way?

and if i had to go for a phenom II x6 how well do they overclock?

I would buy a P2 1090T,it oc`s just as well as the 1100T.SSD will boot into games faster, but no gain when gaming.

Bulldozer cpu`s isnt worth it.

I would go for the option of ssd! In general you will feel more difference in performance that the change of cpu!

I have owned a 1090T and its a good cpu. Had mine @ 4,1 ghz 24/7

What Phenom are you using now? if you upgrade the cpu i would try and get a 1045T 95W tdp. You get less heat with this one and i bet you can oc it more than the 130w Phenom's.

currently got a 955 oc'ed to 4.0 idles around 30-35c and under gaming load goes as high as 43c.

i'm kinda feeling the ssd option atm although i have just had to buy a new psu as i bought a dodgy ssd off ebay, connected it up and fizz crackle and puff good bye psu quite litterally in a cloud of smoke

lesson to all dont buy a second hand ssd off ebay

defo get the ssd. the phenom processors are solid and plus the fx cpu are terrrible! watch toms review of the fx cpu, he really doesn't rate them.

this is what i thought still got a couple of years left in the old 955

2 x agility 3's it is

wish me luck

I wouldnt buy those OCZ drives if I where you heard too many bad stories about them not worth the plastic their printed on if you ask me

My vote goes for the M4's. I had an OCZ Vertex and it died within 24 hours of usage. Had M4's for 6 months+ no problems.

Yep the M4's are a great drive I read somewhere they are basically the same as the intel drives though I forget which series

Glad you got in there and stopped him before it was too late !, life saver indeed ^ that guy just saved you a lot of stress and money too, definatly grab one of the other's mentioned Corsair or Crucial M4, "I personally have a Crucial M4 and not had a single problem with it, boot times within 25 secs sometimes less."

Random maybe pointless query but have you thought about buying a single 120 / 128 GB version of the above mentioned SSD's ? I've not really got a clue on what running Raid 0 actually grants (I'm guessing probably speed).

Edit above statement, I decided to time my boot on / off from the press of a button. and yea lets just say I over-exaggerated quite a lot, it seems faster then it is on paper here's my results "don't be knocked it feels uber fast" (tho this is comming from someone who has been using a mechanical drive up untill very recently.

Here's what I got

Off: 9 secs

On: 50 secs

well i'm sorry to say but this little project has been put on hold for now for 2 reasons

1: I want an i7. simple really ive just had enough of AMD. what a let down bulldozer is

2: my motorbike has just died. well not yet but basically my engine is on the verge of falling out from driving it in the snow and grit for 2 years lol. its the only way for me to get to work so no bike no more money
