CPU air cooler - which one to get !

Hi all , i'm looking at replacing my H50 with an air cooler but any ideas on what may fit without fouling anything , pic below .

I don't really OC and the 2 280's will be replaced soon with a single 6990 or 590 whenever someone brings out a good modded version as the stock ones were'nt great for different reasons .

Currently at 22 degrees ambient and cpu ( i7-930 , stock , ht on ) cores sitting at 28-31 degrees , hottest gfx is 46 degrees . Also when running prime the cpu has never gone over 61 degrees no matter how long i leave it running .

Really just looking for something that will be quiet and will fit without changing the layout , nothing wrong with the cooler currently but just feel i'm sitting on a timebomb ! .

Are you going to keep you memory cooler? What memory have you got?

Its Corsair Dominator ( can't remember the exact model ) but its 3*2gb sticks and they are tall , i think the tops can be removed but not yet checked . As for the memory cooler then i guess that could go as it was only added as there's no air coming from the cpu cooler to cool the ram ( think it came with memory as a kit ) .

Love those Xig fans. Any reason the back one is an intake? I dunno man, I'd wait for that thing to go before I did anything, especially if you aren't OCing. What case is that also, that'd give us some idea as to what can fit, but if you're going to get any answer in regards to an air cooler, it'll be the Noctua DH-14

I did originally have that fan as exhaust but it dropped my gfx temps over 5 degrees as intake , the H50 is intake as well but the other 2 top fans are exhaust , with an air cooler fitted i would expect to put the rear back to exhaust though .

Case is Corsair 800d , pretty sure the DH14 won't fit as it would probably foul the first memory slot , if it helps the board is a Gigabyte X58a-ud7 .

As far as I know the DH-14 doesn't interfere with RAM slots, that's why it's praised so well. Unless you have some Corsair vengeance etc.

As above its Corsair Diminator modules which are tall , yes the DH-14 is well regarded but not because of its ram slot clearance :-) .

TBH mate ram doesn't even need the fancy heatsinks let alone the dedicated cooling, I would say take the cooler off, remove the tops and use the NH-D14. Read a few reviews if you want, it's one of the best coolers out there and can be used with your ram (of course pending on removing the cooler and the tops of the heatsinks)

Oh no no, I didn't mean it like that. I meant that in regards to large CPU coolers, it's another reason why people would choose it, for the clearance. AFAIK most coolers that pull the same temps can't fit some RAM.

your case looks huge why don't you buy a rad and water cool that sucka!

I know the H50 is a water cooler but I mean something awesome with a triple rad.

I apologize for the profanity I just can't help it when I type about water cooling
