Couriers

I have had a lot of different experiences with Couriers, bad and good and I would like to share them with you in case anyone has had any similar...

Initial City Link

- Seems their drivers need to attend a training weekend on how to push a doorbell. On three seperate occassions now I have been waiting for a delivery from them and wasted a whole day sat at home only to find that "delivery was attempted" each time, despite me being in the house at the time they said they had rung the bell (LIARS). Their customer services dept didn't want to know and in the end on two occasions I have had to drive to their depot to do their jobs for them (after being stood in a queue of other customers in the same position for 45 minutes). I had a right mind to charge them petrol money. My advice is avoid at all costs.

Parcel Force

- I haven't used these guys for ages until recently. Everything was fine for one of my consignments, arrived within 24 hours of shipping, although the second consignment is now 48 hours late. I phoned them to get a status update on it (as their website tracker rarely works, if ever) and was told it would definately be delivered to my door before close of business. Five o'clock came and no delivery so I rang them again to be told that the parcel wasn't even in the country yet. Wasn't pleased. I'm sure this was a genuine mistake though so I won't hold it against them, but be wary.

Business Post

- My new courier of choice. 24 hour delivery. Excellent on-line tracking system. Friendly customer services. Usually couriers wont give an estimated time of delivery but I phoned these guys because I needed to pop out and whilest I was on the phone she got in touch with the driver and informed me it would be here within the hour. Recommended.

In my opinion peoples experiences with companies are entirely down to the driver for their area. I always have the same driver for each company and have come to know and trust a couple of them to the point of them leaving things hidden outside my house without a signature lol

Totally agreed. I use DHL and City Link whenever possible. Basically because I know the DHL driver by name and I think he fancies the missus (is that a good or bad thing?) and the City Link driver lives one street away from me.

One service that totally sucks in my area tho is Amtrak...useless, thieving bunch of a*holes.

I agree with llwyd, depends on the driver a lot. Most of the couriers around here are pretty crap :(

The worse one was when I got a 21" CRT and it was delivered by a small 70yr old woman. I had to help her with it and there was a big dent in the corner of the box. As I opened the box up, the plastic on the monitor had split on opposite corners where someone had dropped it on the corner.

They must've dropped it from some height to do the damage they did aswell :o

A few times with one courier, I've had my stuff arrive in Exeter aswell which is 1hour+ south of me (and the stuff was sent from the north).

This is a topic that strikes a nerve with me too.

I have been using a booking agent called PayPerDrop for ages now, who use DHL as their primary carrier. Gotta say, the 'service' has just simply become awful over the last few months. Missing parcels, damaged parcels, collections not made or even booked and DHL's system shows that collections were attempted when someone has been waiting in for the courier all day. Really shoddy basically!

Also, when you try contacting them about an issue you'll be lucky to ever receive a response. More frustrating is that when calling their customer support telephone line & selecting the option to speak to an advisor (0871 218 0506), the call is redirected to an out of service line.

I've finally dropped them as my choice of courier & i'm trying out another booking agent now called ParcelWORKS. They use ParcelForce as their main carrier. Hopefully their service will be better than the crap service dealt out by PayPerDrop.

Depends on how often you get deliveries (both types :)) j/k

... Naw man Agree Completely AMTRAK are a company which consist entirely of Pykies -- it was a [Mis]Government plan to put such a mobile community to better use :D

City Link hold an offshoot of Amish beliefs Dear to their heart (1 single belief : Disapproval of operating Door Bells)

1.city link= sh*ty link

2.royal mail= royal fail

3.parcelforce=parcelfarce

4.amtrak=amtrash

4.dhl=dont half lie

these are the names that these so called courier companies are known as to me and my friends.Having worked as a self-employed courier for the last 6 years,I have come across dodgy practices from all of the above companies with regards to deliveries and customer service.

at the moment i am sub-contracted to the co-op electrical home delivery for large white goods and tvs and they use sh*y link for small electrical items i.e. hoovers,toasters,microwaves,irons and quite frankly they are useless they managed to lose 3 pallets of gear in one day going from our warehouse in Leeds up to Glasgow!!!
