The eu is considering banning violent games , especially counter strike , what do you think?

I live in Canada but I know for a fact that it is not the games that makes kids violent. The kid must have some problem with them to begin with and video games may just bring that out. If that is the case, then it is up to the parents to control what their kids can and cannot play.

I have been playing violent video games ever since I can remember (I'm 16 now) and I am not a violent person. I have morals and can differentiate right from wrong. Now kids who blame their actions on things like video games are just looking for a scapegoat.

Don't ban the games, tighten the restrictions if need be.

The EU are a bunch of morons, they tried to ban bent bananas ffs. If they do ban them then people will just download them from the rest of the world anyway. And a fair number of people will be out of jobs.

And PLEASE dont comapre smoking to games.

I dont even usually fight or be violent even when the time is right and i too have played pretty violent games since the megadrive when i was 7 or so lol, Streets of rage...what a game

i had streets of rage my mum would never let me play it at the age of 8 she confiscated it but i used to thief it back lmao

I think the parents need to stop putting the blame on everything and anything else but themselves and live up to their name....a parent. Dicipline has gotten so lack over the years. If my dad knew that i had kicked your mate (Davos) and crap, he would have beat the

Edit: That was probably too offencive... (not to anyone here, just stereotyping)

Why? It is probably a good idea.. :)

Like enforce the age rating by fineing parents who give 18 rated games to children.

I really do wish you could find other words to use then swear words. It really does make a sensible thread look a total mess

I think we should change the swear filter symbols! ;)

Or just blank them out completely?

Back on topic... :p kids shouldnt really want to play games like FEAR etc. as even at my age i find them quite disturbing or sick - imagine being brought up on that though, when your mind is still developing?

I know what you mean. There are kids who play games because of gore etc. Which is pretty sickening. The same kids go onto those horrible websites showing people decapitated and mutilated, laughing about it to their friends.

I have known people like that, the ones that say "did you see ... on *.com" showing off about seeing it, but also sending links to it to other people.

I really don't know why people would want to see mutilated bodies or watch someone die, but the ones who do it at such a young age, surely are mentally disturbed?

I also think that games today can't be compared to games of 10+years ago, stuff is getting so realistic now.

I have had a few kids at school try to show me stuff like that - my first reaction was actually shock, i was almost sick at just the thought and it made me want to hunt that website down and get it closed indefinately. It was basically terrorism. Also some ive been told about with incidents of cruelty to animals, which i find extremely offensive that they find it funny...its kids like that tbh

yeah that stuff is hella sick... but back to the main subject... how would they enforce the banning of the games... its easy enough to download and find a cd key gen for a game (not saying i have, i buy my games)

but it would be hard to enforce imo

Yes, make them *'s instead of that lame emoticon.

On topic. I agree with PP McGuire for once, in saying that it is most likely the Parents' fault and that they should take responsibility in monitoring what their kids do, how they act, and if the need be get them help. End of discussion.

I've been playing these so called "violent" video games since I was 9. I don't want to kill people. Nothings changed.

Its a dam good idea, but theres alot of people out there who get offended way too easy and we have a reputation to uphold.
