Corsair Obsidian 500D Review

Tom mentioned that this is the new look for Obsidian line of cases... More coming soon?
This could also be the run up to the potential flagship SLATE case. the prototype had obsidian all over it in my eyes.

yeah i agree mate , i think this is indeed the case , although i think its a clever way to increase the airflow whilst also looking good from an aesthetic point of view , this is a beautiful case and its an amazing giveaway in every respect and in every aspect, ive been impressed with OC3D and TinyTomLogan ever since i discovered them a couple of years ago , good , relevant , up to date and in depth content presented in a classic British way , whereas some reviewers are a little too much goodytwoshoes if you know what i mean , but i like the fact that Tom isnt scared to express his full and honest opinions about a product and whether he really likes it or not and isnt just saying every product is good and worth buying just to keep the big companies happy , its his real and genuine opinion from his own company and presented in his own and unique fashion and that shows , there arent too many straight up and brutally honest reviewers out there like TTL + OC3D and its a charming change to watch and listen to compared to some others out there but i wont go into names obviously as it would be in very bad taste , so its a refreshing change as i say

OK just had the time to read through the review properly and look over all the pics etc (can't watch a vid, mum has radio on). Any way, I love it. I think it looks fantastic, almost like a large Corsair One (which I am also very fond of tbh). I love how they have properly capped off the end of the PSU shroud (hurrah !) *and* put a grommet top side you could use to feed the PCIE power cables into your GPU. I can not tell you how long I have been trying to say this to case mfgrs since doing it on my Triad build. It really is the best thing ever and looks so clean.
It's rare I see a case where there is absolutely nothing at all I don't like about it, but this could well be the "one" (pardon the pun
)
I can't see myself straying from my Alienware cases (because I like curves and unusual shapes) but I tell you if I did it would 100% be this case. Just for the lovely capped off PSU shroud *and* some grommets to run out all of the cables for the USB and etc, which you could then run your PCIE cables from covering all of that nasty crap up.

One thing I see Corsair still haven't improved with the new 500 is space for the cable management at the rear of the motherboard tray. The 460X and 570X didn't have enough in my opinion to fit all the SSDs and HDDs as well as the cables and HUBs.

Dunno man, never had a Corsair case but I did like the original Obsidians. I do know that cases are very minimalistic now though so that may be why the lack of space?

The only quibble I'd have is with the price; but barring winning the comp I'll be pulling the trigger regardless. I wasn't taken with the case this is based on; nothing wrong with it, but the aesthetics here make all the difference.

it certainly is impressive my man , especially to someone like me who has only ever used and had primitive inferior pc technology like the hp all in one im using now so this thing will be an absolute blessing for someone thats for sure , i just hope that whoever wins ( if its not me of course lol ) really looks after it and cherishes it ! what a sight this will be for someone sitting proudly on their computer desk , i cant even imagine what its like to even have a computer with an ssd as ive only ever known hdd speeds and integrated graphics but it must be like chalk and cheese to go from budget to beast !!! its painful seeing fabulous pc goodness like this BUT at the same time im just so happy and excited to be in with an honest and fair chance of a spectacular and generous pc giveaway like this and i know Tom actually went out of his way to make it as truly stupendous as it is as he didnt have to make it a monumental beast system like this , i think it was only supposed to be an 8700k giveaway which in itself would have been tremendous , i sincerely wish you all the best of luck out there for those of you that have entered ( legitimately of course and that are not trying to be an asshole by cheating in some manner as that sort of stuff infuriates me ! ) so all the best guys for all of you out there in cyberspace who enter genuinely , ive got my head , shoulders , knees and toes, kness and toes AND fingers crossed for this magnificent machine ! win or lose thanks for the opportunity to end my primitive pc pain !

the front look absolutely sexy to me
there is something about the "suicide door" that i really can't love as much as the rest but it's overall definitely a really clean, sexy design with good airflow
but if i have to be honest i would have digged more front i/o and a different top grill design :\
