Corsair Neutron GTX vs Samsung 840 Pro?...

Hey guys,

So I'm having a retard question for you guys... but which SSD is best?, in terms of boot up times etc.

As I have an 840 Pro 240-260GB (can't remember exact size) and I also have an Force Series 3" 180GB. I have the 840 Pro as my main drive (OS), but used to have the Force Series 3" one as boot drive... and for some reason, the Samsung one seems to boot slower into Windows.
My mate also has a Corsair one and he seems to restart his PC way faster than me... this might just be me being lol here though.

Do you guys think I'd notice any difference changing from my 840 Pro to Neutron GTX 240GB?...

Thanks,
Chrazey

They are both great, but I found Samsung far more reliable.

I had gone through THREE Neutron GTX SSDs before my local supplier suggested I switch to the 840 Pro. Havent had an issue since then.

As for performance, they are both on par with each other if you take the 256gb and upwards.

I think the write speed on the 840pro 128gb is lower. I dont think you can compare against your friend since you both have different systems and so different applications/resources to load. My Samsung boots with blistering speed, so it could be something you have installed thats slowing it down slightly.

You can try installing Samsung magician. Link below gives some info about it

Just looked at the graph on my link, and it does report the Neutron boots to windows faster so its up to you :)
I just prefer longevity and reliability, especially for a boot drive.

Thanks for the reply guys! :)

Yeah, just that I have the 840 Pro already and the Neutron isn't the cheapest of the bunch so to speak :P...

I can only vouch for the 830 Pro that's in my laptop. I bought that used and it hasn't skipped a beat. Laptop boots in 9 seconds flat, great drives ;)

I'd go Samsung tbh.

I strongly suggest you stick with your 840pro. Like all of us above, we have had no issues with them.

Samsung magician might improve your boot speed because it makes use of ramdisk feature if i remember correctly. I cant check as I have my SSD in raid which is not a supported feature for samsung magician software.

I believe the XT is due/has had a firmware change since this review so things may have changed..

I have a couple of 840 Pros and can vouch for their awesomeness. Real world performance I imagine will be negligible
