Hi guys,

What are you thoughts on this cooler?

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/components/cooling/watercooling/corsair/c-cwch50-1.html

Not far off the price of a decent air heatsink.

As it's sealed would it be 100% maintenance free, I don't know if I can trust this.. And it appears there is no way to inspect it.

Stay away? Or not bad?

Hahaha cheers guys, thought that might be the case

.

I'll put my money towards a decent heatsink (maybe a WC setup will see).

If your case and setup can take it there's only one choice dude. NH-D14. It might not sound as exciting but results are what matter.

I have bought nothing yet looking at all my options

.

Looking at the Venomous X also, meant to offer better cooling? Probably have to purchase additional fans though.

Why are manufacturers plating the copper with nickle on the base? It's thermal conductivity is less... Confusing.

Yeah true mate, wish it had nicer fan colours, will grow on me though ahha
smile.gif
. Dunno how it will look under blue lighting. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day I'm too tight to change perfectly good fans just for a better colour

.

the fans might look a bit poo u get used to them i have and they are expensive as hell fans as they are so u end up with a reallly really great set up and the thing is silent

Yeah but that voids the warranty and to be honest probably does performance no good at all.

6 year warranty, that is bloody good, shows that they believe it in lasting. I'm sold on it

.

Now for a case which fits it and allows for bit of a glow!

Cheers guys, nice reviews Tom!

Because it doesn't turn color/tarnish like copper...small sacrifice compared to something growing in-between your cooler and parts (unless you periodicaly remove and clean)causing a catastrophic failure IMHO

Cheers guys, nice reviews Tom!

if your gonna go with the Noctua you might want to look into using Mushkin memory at a latter date...it fits much nicer under the fan from what our Tom says

Well ignore my sig as I no longer have that rig

.

I will take a look at that memory, as I have nothing already I have a nice clean slate to work from

Yep, good point regarding the copper, after taking a look online this seems to be the reason why. The Big Typhoon I had never seemed to go bad over the years but who can tell what happens at the microscopic level...

It looks like there maybe slightly better cooling heatsinks but nothing which will last the same amount of time!

The corsair is a Ok cooler but its over priced and totally not in the right range of coolers it should be in the low end coolers not up bragging about its self.

I don't think there is better cooling heat sinks out there well air cooling ones any way, there are a few that jump in-front in the low tests but up in the high temp areas the Noctua knocks em out the water (god knows how I think there cheating some how, but I doubt they are defeating the laws related to heat transferring and cooling

) But is a great cooler.

the only draw back is the size but thats only daunting to people who don't know if it will fit in there case yet, Those that have it and it dose fit don't have single bad thing to say, Well i haven't noticed any one yet, Those coolers seem to give people bragging rights now to
laugh.gif

Good luck

PS. I'm jealous of that 70Mb/s net speed in you sig.

i wouldnt say the h70 was useless, yes the d14 is better but not everyone has the room to accomadate this cooler the h70 does its job for those who want a nice clean rig n yes i do own a h70 im currently overclocked @4.2ghz with idle temps of 26c having said all that i would have a d14 if it wasnt for my ram dominator gt i may treat myself to some mushkin n a d14 for xmas before the vat rises:D
