I'm considering buying a Corsair H40 for my main rig. but is it overkill for a Core 2 Quad Q6600 on stock clocks? 2.4GHz by the way.

Thanks, Josh

Mate don't worry that Corsair H40 will be overkill

Its not a great cooler. Better go for Nhd14 or havik140, but if you want to go for this "watercooled

" corsair coolers go for H80.

this is a water cooling section of OC3D All H40 / H what ever should be banned or put in a swear word context.

Please dont waste you time or money on any of them.

+1 for that, Mayhem speaks the truth.

ok mods we need a sticky please on top of the liquid cooling section

NO H/?? TALK IN THIS SECTION !!!

Its for Real Water Cooling only!!

The H100 h what ever isn't even water cooling it glycol cooling. The liquid that flows in the h100 is 100% glycol (no wonder they cease up). if we put that much glycol in our normal water cooling loops we would be crying after 10 min. And since glycol really only last 2 years max in a system that is your life time of the product even in a sealed environment.
